How do i remove the factory radio on my 1983 cadillac fleetwood

Hi there,

Locate and remove two (2) phillips screws that secure the top of the plastic panel that surrounds the radio. The plastic dash panel will pull off once the screws are removed as shown in the photo above.
The front of the radio is held in with two (2) 7mm bolt screws at the top of the radio. Remove the 2 bolt screws.
There is a hidden radio that secures the rear of the radio and is located under the radio. Pull the ashtray to its extended position. You will need to lay on your back or side and look behind the ashtray, up to the bottom of the radio.
Once the ashtray has been pull to its extended position, you should be able to locate and remove one (1) 7mm bolt screw as seen in the photo above.
Once all screws have been removed, the radio can then be removed. Pull firmly on the radio to remove it from the dash. The radio will most likely resist pulling from the dash. The antenna cable which plugs into the rear of the radio is very short and gives the radio resistance when trying to pull the radio out of the dash. Continue to pull firmly and the antenna cable will unplug itself as the radio is pulled from the dash.
Unplug (1) blue, (1) white, and (1) black wire harness connector(s) from the rear of the radio. There will also be wires extending from the rear of the radio with a plastic connector attached to the wires about 4 inches from the rear of the radio. Unplug this small connector. The radio can now be completely removed from the dash. Set it aside. You will need to remove the plastic brackets attached to the top and bottom of the GM radio. This will be shown in detail in the "Mount New Radio" section.

Hope these helps....

How do you take the radio out of a 1995 bonneville

You need to pull the plastic cover that runs all along your dashboard, a/c heater controls, and radio. You don't have to pull it out completely just enough where you can unscrew the 4 screws that hold the radio in its place. Just take a flat head screw driver and gently pry the plastic cover off around the radio area. You also might need to pull (with your fingers or flat head again) the cover by where the a/c vents are. Pull out as much as you need so you have room to stick a screw driver in. Once you unscrew the screws (bolts) pull the radio out slowly and begin to pull out the wire harnesses and antenna cable from the back of the radio and there you have!! If your going to replace your radio you will need a single din and you have to buy the adapter piece to put it in. A double din radio will not fit. Good luck.

I have a 2000 chevy tahoe that I need to unlock the radio

You can call the dealer with your VIN# and the serial# from the radio, but that means you have to pull the radio first. Not ******* your vehicle. First pull out your cup holder on the dash as you would to use it. Second, turn on your key and put the vehicle in first gear, all the way down. Tilt your wheel all the way down. Dash panel will pull out easily, no screws just clips. Pull firmly, but not too hard, straight out all the way around the panel. BE CAREFUL NOT TO BREAK THE HAZZARD SWITCH. VERY EXPENSIVE. Push the hazzard switch down and gently pull the panel over it. Disconnect any wire harnesses on the radio side so that you can tilt the dash panel away from the radio. The radio will also just unclip from the dash. On either side you will see clips on the radio that you need to push straight down and then just pull straignt out. There you go. Good luck.

Cannot get the radio out

Getting those radios out can be a pain! I worked at Ford/merc/lincoln for some time in the past and knowing what I was doing still broke the special tools to pull them out. Assuming your tools are the correct ones and in good condition put them in til you feel them in place and pull them to the side away from the radio and I would rock the radio up and down a little while trying to pull the radio out at the same time. You may want to try to push the radio in first as you pull the 'tools' to the side hopefully relieving pressure of the clips that are holding the radio in then start rocking the radio as you pull the radio out. The clips that hold the radio in is the problem and not being able to see what your doing hoping the tools are doing its job releasing the clips is quite aggravating, I remember all so well. I wish you luck, hope this helps
