Question about 1994 Cadillac DeVille
My air conditioning system is charged up and works perfectly only if a hotwire is ran directly to the compressor. For some reason the compressor won't turn on,it's not the fuses or the compressor relay. If I turn on the air conditioning my compressor will not engage.Everything was working but the old compressor locked up so I had to install a new one but when I did, it ran for a little while then tuned off and will not turn back on unless a hot wire is ran directly to it which is what I had to do to charge it the rest of the way with freon. Also we've tried jumping the high and low preassure switches and it still won't work. For some reason the compressor is not getting any electricity.
In my 1990 Cadillac Deville there is a sticker that says that one can reset the computer that controls the compressor by disconnecting the battery for a few minutes and reconnecting.
Did you disconnect the battery to reset the a/c system?
The symptoms you are describing lead me to believe that there is a safety feature that prevents the compressor from engaging when the compressor has been run for any length of time without at least .5 lbs. of freon in the system.
You said that you had to run a hot wire to charge it up with freon. But, if you ran it without freon, it may have automatically invoked the 'safety' feature.
I have seen this happen on my 1990 cadillac. I haven't had any problems on my 1997 Cadillac Limousine, because I never had a low charge on that car.

the answer is simple. you DO NOT!! Even a \licensed mechanic can not if the situation doesn't warrent it. These situations are controlled by the EPA to reduct ground water contamination and putting OSONE IN THE AIR.
