Question about 1997 Chevrolet Astro
My astro would just not start one day. i jumped it and took off the negative cable from the battery and it stayed running in idle, but when i revved the engine it died. the battery indicator on the instrument panel is reading slightly above 14. when it died and i tried to start it again with just the battery, the starter just ticked and quit.
Well, just for electrical basics coverage, the alt puts out volts and amps and it is possible for it to put out enough volts but not enough amps.
Best thing to do is to take the alt off and have it checked to see if it's putting out enough volts and amps.
If it is, then maybe the battery is shorted out and is drawing too much off the alt to allow it to run the vehicle.
I hope this helps
