Just wondering if anyone has a 'prevent' for the problem we experienced
where the car key refused to turn and the security light continued
blinking as if car had not disabled it yet for starting. First
recommended fix was: get out and lock & unlock using remote. No effect.
Second fix: depress accelerator and then turn key while jockeying
steering wheel. This worked. Tho I don't yet know why. And is there a
way to prevent the security from becoming TOO powerful ...?
I have a 1997 chevy blazer with a car alarm with a very similar problem., when I turn off the car the key will not turn off all the way and will not come out. I have tried everything that has been suggested and nothing is working so far, every once in awhile the key desides to turn of all the way and come out. Does anyone have a solution for this problem? I sure would appreciate it.

If you went straight to starter with jumper cables and you got nothing then , then pull and have starter bench tested. Also make sure you haven't trigger some kind of security on your system that would lock you out from starting. you should see a security light flashing if you did.
Nothing you can do here try the spare key and if this is the same then its a dealer only job or a auto locksmith to re-programme it for you ,if you only have one key then the chip may have dropped out of the key fob ,if you have a remote start alarm thing then this could be faulty as they often go wrong.Either way their is no way you can start the vehicle as the immobilisor is to prevent anyone from stealing the car by hot wiring it which some deliquents still think they can do and this is down to watching too many TV programmes it just doesnt happen on newer cars over the last 20 yrs
YOU CAN TURN OFF SECURITY LIGHT BY PUTTING KEY IN THE IGNITION SWITCH.TURN IGNITION TO ON POSITION,WITH ENGINE OFF.LEAVE KEY IN THE SWITCH IN ON POSITION FOR 10 MINUTES UNTIL SECURITY LIGHT TURN OFF.IF IT DOES.TURN OFF IGNITION SWITCH.WAIT 5 SECONDS THEN TRY CRANKING CAR.IF THIS DONT WORK TRY ANOTHER KEY DO THE 10 MINUTES SWITCH TRICK.IF STILL THE SECURITY LIGHT DONT TURN OFF YOUR THEFT SECURITY SYSTEM IN FAULT THE DEALERSHIP HAS TO FIX AND REPROGRAM NEW KEY IN SWITCH OR BCM CONTROL MODULE..
I just put a small wood wedge in the top of the door, slid a wire hanger in and popped the lock. the alarm did go off but I was able to pull the door handle as I popped the lock and open the door. Stuck the keys in the ignition and turned it over and the alarm was deactivated...easy to do with minimal tools.
