Noise coming from radiator cooling fan in 2000 jeep grand cherokee 4.0

Typically you need to replace the fan clutch. (This is presuming that you are not overheating and not near too hot. Under hot condition, your issue is normal.) The clutch can fail in the locked position.

1999 grand cherokee laredo overheating when idling for 15 min. or so. Not when driving, everything ok. radiator replaced about 8-9 months ago, water pump pretty new, and extra electric fan worked on about...

Chanches are it is probably the fan. Anything over 15 miles an hour the fan is no longer needed. I would get a cheap hydrometer and make sure your antifreeze is still good.

2000 grand cherokee laredo overheated and anti-freeze spolled from the reservoir. what would have caused this

the over heating can be as a result of a failing fan, dirty radiator system that needs to be flushed or the head gasket that needs replacement.

I have a 2001 grand cherokee laredo it has been overheating but not all the time. happens all of the sudden never no when everything looks good it jut started this , has 160000 miles

Changing the thermostat is the standard answer. Make sure the cooling fan(s) come on when it reaches operating temperature. The fans won't make much difference if the car is moving, but standing still, they can make a great difference. Blow out the radiator core with compressed air from the engine side to get rid of accumulated bugs and other debris. Hope this helps!

How do you replace the fan motor in '03 jeep grand cherokee laredo? - the damn thing overheats when idle - changed the relay & coolant sensor... still overheating

When was the last coolant change?
Under 2 years or 24,000 miles.

Change the thermostat and gasket first.

Use a 195F with pop-let protection.

A stuck/failing thermostat is a common cause of over-heating problem.

======
To change the fan,the entire protector plastic has to come out.

Most likely you will break the push in locking pins.

Get few replacement push in locking pins before you start the job.

Overheating

At this point you have a few items to check. 1. is there power at the fan, if you hot wire the fan to the battery does it come on? 2. is the relay good? (may be in front of battery or in power distribution center.) 3. Is the temperature sending unit good? sender send signal to computer, computer sends ground signal to relay that turns on fan. Also check main fuses in dist center.
