You will need a 20 star bit screw driver and a tool to take off your radiator hose.Their are 4 screws on the front of your thermostat housing . Make sure your car is cool for at least an hour And you will Probably need to unclamp the top hose running to the thermostat housing. And Probably the hose up under the housing. Then with the 20 star bit screw driver unscrew the 4 screws in front of the thermostat housing. When you get the front of the thermostat housing off.The thermostat is right inside pull it out and replace.

TForhe thermostat only works on the highest setting

Thermostats don't make noise. Do you mean the fan? First replace the fan switch, next replace the fan.

Thermastate ????

no, but the thermostat housing is made of plastic and will break inside and leak. if you replaced it and it is overheating you probably have a air pocket in the engine.

Thermostat

this is the same for most cars, follow the upper radiator hose from the radiator to the engine, it should connect to a metal fitting that bolts the the engine, have a drain pan ready underneath and remove those bolts, the thermostat should be underneath that metal fitting.

Ford focus heating problems

you might like to try replacing your thermostat on the engine!a way to test if it is working properly is to remove the thermostat and place it into boiling hot water ,this way you will be able to see how and if it is working or not,and how you tell is if the spring compresses closed and the valve opens its fine if not then you need to replace it,,hope that helps..goodluck.

Thermostat instalation

lets first check the COOLANT level.
then check the coolant bypass valve located in the coolant line itself.
Afterwards we can come to the thermostat.
