Question about 2002 Ford Explorer

Rear left regualator and motor

The ford dealership tried to rip me off today with a bill $600.00. Whats the real price for a rear left regualtor/motor job. Please help

I have a 2002 Ford Explorer and I'm not sure if this is the same problem or not however, my front passenger windown rolled itself down while I was driving and would not roll back up. When I depress the buttion to roll up or down it sounds like it is rolling up and down (like the glass itself is just off the track). I took it to a ford dealership and they told me the motor would have to be replaced at a cost or over $400. Does this sound right. I'm female so I'm not sure if this is a rip off or not. Is this something I can do myself?

Should be about 275 or less, depending on where you live.(US dollars)

You should start on the most far wheel - typically it's rear right wheel, then rear left, then front right and front left.

What's your problem?rear axle seal left side leaking

I don't know how much stuff costs - I do the work myself to avoid having to pay people to do it for me. I'd guess you'd probably get charged at least two hours for axle seals at ~$90/hour at a dealership... I wouldn't bother doing both sides but you can if you want (will probably add another 30min to an hour to the job). Totally guessing but I'd put the bill at around $450 from a dealership, and maybe $350 from an independent shop. Call around and see.

DOES MY 05 4X4 6.0 FORD POWERSTROKE HAVE A PLUG-IN FOR WHEN IT GETS REALLY COLD? AND IF SO WHERE IS IT?

According to my research, all 6.0 Powerstrokes have the block heater. The cord was an option. The heater is located just above the starter, right rear head. You will have to reach up over the top of the starter to find it. Its threaded into the block and has two prongs sticking out where the cord plugs into it. Yo can get the cord at any dealership, but the price varies quite a bit depending on how much the dealer wants to rip you off. Do't pay over $60.00. Check your local NAPA dealer before going to the dealership.

I need to fix a strut mount in front and also the bushings for the lower control arm. Is this a job for a real mechanic at a big price?

there is a recall on the front lower control arms. If they haven't been replaced on your vehicle yet under the recall, the dealership will replace them for free. Just call your local dealer ship and they can look up if the recall has been done using your vin#.

Replacing the strut mount is pretty easy if you have the right tools. If a shop wants to charge you for more than an hour of labor, they either don't know what they are doing, or are trying to rip you off.

Fuel pump does not run; inertia switch is in (no collision or jolt was had). Started up on last Sunday once and then quit. Lots of battery and starting but no "pop". Oil pressure switch or fuel pump relay?...

the fuel pump is probly bad ,its in side the tank,
its about 30- 100.00 at auto zone , and if your mech inclined at all you can replace it your self, where the dealerships charge 600,00, it only takes about an hour too do,
