2005 Grand Prix base model. Starts cold no problem. But drive it for 10 minutes, turn it off do shopping for 20 minutes and the doesn't start. It starts up and dies. This happens 3-5 times. Seems the only way to get by this situation is to give it gas just as it started, but then it revs and makes it emberassing, and yet still could die out!! I've replaced the fuel pump relay, but made no difference. No lights come on so no codes are available. I don't want to change to fuel pump/sending unit and still have this problem. Car runs strong and hard, but this starting issue is a real pain. Any ideas

I would start with a tune-up: plugs, wires, cap, and PVC valve and see if this fixes the problem

Car only has 70000kms on it, doesn't have a cap, but 3 iginition modules, wires seem to be in good shape. Timydee, I did say a 2005, plugs are platium and in good shape. Have been using gas additives and injection cleaners, but all to no use.

my step daughter has a 2005 Endeavor and one of her coils went bad it cost $126 just for the coil, her SUV had 65,000 miles on it and I replaced all her spark plugs also. She was also leaking oil from the valves. I understood you have already replaced the fuel pump but reading the post again, you did not. Here is a question, when you are driving for a long distance does it like dog down on you or have you ever heard like muffled backfires. If it has then the fuel pump is the problem,or as when it is cold it runs and starts great. once it heats up and gets warm and it will not start or if it does it acts like it is flooding. i would say fuel pump if what i described is/has happened, if not then its ignition: sensor, coil, module or plugs maybe something with the computer, also. I hope this helps Tim

2006 Grand Prix GT blower motor stops working on start up in cold

Rather then rigging it , fix it right ! The blower motor could be bad . Testing the electrical circuit , checking current draw , voltage drop . etc.... Hooking up a light switch isn,t going to keep it on if parts are failing . More then likely the blower motor control processor is going bad . The blower motor is electronically controlled .

yes very much possible the ignition switch is getting Short so its causing the issue.Check the voltage at ignition switch. The power wire to the ignition switch harness are connected to battery and will give 12 volts. If there is no voltage then its loose connection. If there is short the voltage will differ. ---------thanks.Helpmech.

1998 pontiac grand prix starts up cold and runs for about 5 minutes and starts runing bad, backfires and dies

sounds like a stopped up catalytic converter, most muffler shops ( meineke, midas ) will test them for free, but call ahead and ask.

Car runs hot. Its 2005 grand prix

Start by flushing your coolant system, then refill with a quality coolant.
Run up to temperature and check again for level (when cool again)

Check that the radiator is getting really hot quite suddenly when running from cold, as this is the best way of checking thermostat operation.
When over a set temperature (check your manual) the fan should come on.
If it never does - troubleshoot the fan (temperature switch or sensor first, then fan on direct feed to see if it powers up ok)

2005 Pontiac grand prix 3.8 doesn't start

Try this: Turn ignition on for AT LEAST 10 minutes without doing anything else. After 10 minutes, turn the key to start, thre is a good chance of it running. Long explanation, but it has to do with the PassLock security system futzing up.
