Open the hood. go to the drivers side. you should see a large metal what looks to be a tub.from the tub there will be a metal pipe running from it. on that pipe there should be a plastic esivour with a lid on it.... the resivour should have MIN and MAX on the side of it. that is your brake fluid resivour and thats where the brake fluid goes... just remove the cap and fill it up. but be sure not to fill it up past the MAX line on the side.

What does this mean

Several things can cause the warning light to come on, if you read your owner's manual it will explain this to you.

Check that your parking brake is fully disengaged when you're driving around.

Check your brake fluid level, there is a float sensor in there that will indicate a low level of fluid - low fluid can be from normal wear of the brakes, have them checked as they may be getting close to worn out or there might be a fluid leak somewhere.

most cars use DOT3/4 brake fluid, but don't trust me.
What fluid? easy.
the lid should be marked for that, read the lid yet?
or the oper guide. it tells you what fluid.
and tells you not to spill it and eat the paint of car.

2000 Lincoln ls where do you put break fluid in

The brake fluid goes in the brake master cylinder. (Fluid Reservoir)

There are pictures on pages 197 and 198 in the Owner's Manual (depending on which engine you have) they will show you exactly where this reservoir is located.

If you do not have an Owner's Manual, you can download a FREE PDF version: click HERE.

Also note that you should NEVER have to add brake fluid to your car. If the fluid level is low, then there is a leak in the system that MUST be diagnosed and repaired IMMEDIATELY! Failure to immediately repair a fluid leak in a brake hydraulic system can lead to serious personal injury, property damage, or DEATH!

Need to know what type of fluid for the clutch

it is a hydraulic system, much like your brakes. use regular brake fluid unless the owner's manual says otherwise. if the fluid keeps disappearing, you are most likely looking to replace the little master cylinder or the slave. keep an eye on ebay for replacement parts.

Honda "brake lamp" is on - how do I fix it?

the brake lamp will come on when the fluid level is low. check the fluid, fill it to the full mark, and have the brakes checked. the level goes down as the pads wear.

Need fluid specs/types

any of the generic PS fluids will work, avail from Kragen, Autozone etc., brake fluids, use DOT 4, oil, 10-30W, any name brand will fill the bill, Valvoline is my favorite followed by Castrol brand.
Ebay motors is a good source for an owners manual
