It is telling me to lock the doors with the key, this will arm the system, then you should be able to unlock the doors after about 3 seconds and this should disarm the system. Also, if it doesn''t try unlocking the passenger side door or the back glass with the key. Let me know you must wait at least 3 seconds before unlocking back glass or passenger door to disarm system once one door is unlocked without setting off alarm it is disabled. hope this helps
The only one you can reset is the "time for regular service" message.
To reset this, turn ignition off, hold the trip reset button down and turn key to position II. Keep holding the trip reset until you hear a ping noise and the orange triangle flashes. Immediately release the trip reset and turn the ignition off. When you start the car next, the message will be gone.
Other messages like "SRS Service required" or "Alarm system service required" can only be rest with a OBD code reader.
to reprogram new key first you need to use 2 factory program keys.place first factory key in the ignition first turn ignition on for 3 seconds. then turn off ignition then install second factory in the ignition on position for 10 seconds.when immobilizer warning lamp begins to flash a acoustic signal is emitted.within 60 seconds. switch ignition off and remove key.then insert new key and switch on for 10 seconds a acoustic signal is emitted and immobilizer warning lamp remain illuminated for 3 seconds indicating programming completed.if all fails dealership has to reprogram new keys.
If you want to defeat the system you need to make sure its the alarm system and not the ignition system, you are equipt with a pass lock system.Nothing in the alarm system change from the pellet type to the module of today,If you are trying to start the vehicle and the security light stays on.wait ten minutes with the key in the ON position,or until the security light goes off. Then turn the ignition to off before attempting to restart.
The 2003 Sonata is equipped with a 'starter KILL' burglar alarm system with disables the starting system (using a N/C 'contacts' configuration instead of a N/O contacts configuration). N/C=Normally closed, and N/O=Normally open contacts. When the alarm goes off with a MY Sonata, the only way to DISARM it is with the key fob (remote) originally programmed for it (unless you purchase a new remote & have it programmed for the vehicle at an authorized Hyundai Service Department). NOTE: So long as the keyless entry & burglar alarm system is functioning/operating normally, the alarm will keep going off and the STARTER KILL function will still prevent you from starting the vehicle. One option is left without purchasing a new remote and having it programmed. 1. When the alarm goes off, get into the vehicle and insert the ignition key into the ignition. 2. Turn the key to the 'RUN' position (NOT the ACC position) and wait for the alarm to STOP (usually about 3 to 5 minutes). 3. The engine should then start using the ignition key.
If this procedure doesn't work, the problem will need further diagnosis by a qualified/certified Hyundai Service Technician.
Now im not sure since the manual says your model has the same alarm system as the 328i and on the 328i you can remove the module to disable by doing the following. you can unplug the control module. It is located under the glove box. Climb under the dash on the passenger side and remove a few screws on the trim panel under the glove box. Theres a black control module with a green connector. There should be a lock tab on the connector. press the lock tab and pull out the connector. The alarm should now be disabled. But if it has the special transponder key this may not work.
But if the only reason you want to disable it is because of the motion sensor setting of the alarm for no reason there is a solution for this. To disable the motion sensor, hit the lock button to arm, then hit lock button again within four seconds to disable motion sensor. Red light on rearview mirror should flash four times, then pause, then start flashing on regular intervals. this is most likely the reason if your having the issue where the alarm goes off every 20 minutes. If you want to completely remove it below is a wiring diagram taken from the manual for you alarm system. this is from the manual its the alarm wiring diagram.

the key has magnet on it that may be weakening. It will have to be reprogrammed.
Insert the first valid key into the ignition switch and turn the
ignition switch ON for at least 3 seconds but no longer than 15
seconds. Turn the ignition switch OFF and remove the first key.
Insert the second valid key and turn the ignition switch ON
within 15 seconds. After ten seconds a chime will sound and the Theft
Alarm Light will begin to flash. Turn the ignition switch OFF and
remove the second key.
Insert a new Key into the ignition switch and turn
the ignition switch ON within 60 seconds. After 10 seconds a single
chime will sound. The Theft Alarm Light will stop flashing, turn on for
3 seconds; then turn off. The new key has been programmed.
