Rx8 2008-My battery was dead after being stored for 5 months. I did not not disconnect the battery (I know I should have). I had my battery jumped with my husband's car. As soon as I connected the cables on it, the anti-theft lights and horn went off. I removed the horn fuse to stop the noise. Had the car succesfully started. The anti-theft lights stopped blinking after a minute or two. But the anti-theft system is going of everytime the doors are being opened. I tried to stop it with the panic button on the intelligent key (which battery is good) - does not work. One thing I could not do, is to lock-unlock the doors because battery did not charged enough to allow it. Had to disconnect the battery for the night to have the anti-theft system stop for good until tomorrow. How do I stop the anti-theft to go off like that ?

You should have disconnected the battery and fully charged it before starting the car.
The low voltage may have damaged some of the electronic components in the alarm system.
Charge the battery fully, then reconnect it and see if that helps.

Have a 2007 GMC 1500 Max..about 5 months ago it would not start. i jumped it and was good for about 3 weeks then dead again. so we replaced the batter has been good for about 2 months now dead again?

I suspect a defective alternator...If you have a voltmeter, set it to read 12 volts...Read across battery terminals with engine off...Jump start vehicle and read across terminals again...Must read at least 2,8 volts higher..If not alternator is defective...If good there is a current drain on the battery when engine is off...Check for any lights remaining on...If you have a under-hood-light this is probably the fault...Remove bulb

My 1990 buick century custom got me home the other day. Now when i try to start it it trys to turn over then it click for about 15 seconds then nothing. I think it the battery but dont know. Please help...

Try jump starting it. I tend to agree with your battery thought, but instead of throwing parts at it - jump start and drive to any good local auto parts store (Autozone, Advance, etc...) and have them load test your battery and test your charging system... they do both of these tests FREE. You'll find what's troubling your "ride"

Batteryis dead

Need more info - How old is battery? can you jump start? etc. If you can jump start it, take it to a local parts store like Autozone, Advance, etc and have them test your charging system and battery. Note if battery went dead, you're going to need your code to re-activate your factory radio.

My 2000 300m has been sitting for 7 months without being started and the battery went dead during this time. it was running fine prior to sitting. I tried to jump start it and it would not start, I saw...

There has to be a code store in the computer that will tell you what might be wrong. the code is the place to start. My 99 sat for a year, and after recharging the battery and getting it started the only code I could get though, was the dead battery or disconnected battery code- but the point is, it started. Check for mouse-eaten wires at the cam sensor and the Crank Sensor. Hey- it could happen...

Car has been sitting 5 months without being started

the battery may be shorted out. do you have a meter to check a batteries condition? if not take the battery into the parts store and they can tell you if it has a dead short in it which means the plates inside the battery have sulphated together and wont allow current to pass through them. lead acid batteries are real bad about this if they go completly dead even if they are newer batteries.

Electrical Short???

Has the stereo been changed recently? If not move to the cigerett lighter. These two are most likely the prob. But you could have a bare wire anywhere grounding out. Good luck and hope you find it.

My battery died i got a jump but now my srs light stays on

TRY DISCONNECTING THE BATTERY TERMINALS FOR 5 MINUTES. BE AWARE THAT THE STEREO MAY HAVE A LOCK OUT CODE. RETRIEVE THIS CODE BEFORE YOU DISCONNECT THE BATTERY. HOPE THIS HELPS. BEST OF LUCK TO YOU.

2008 toyota avalon dead batery

There sounds to be a problem with your alternator. If the car went dead every few hours or week I'd say its the battery. But if the car lasts 3 months between problems, then you're battery is a champ despite fighting a losing battle.  Do you ever take long trips that coincide with this problem? If your battery isn't recharging then it could drain to dead on a longer trip.  There could also be an electrical problem like a bad ground that only shorts bad every once in a while. Read the voltage when the battery is connected to the car with everything off and then again when the battery is disconnected from the car. Also, have you had the alternator checked? Have you inspected the engine for bad grounds? Have you tried buying one of those battery saver devices? Hope this helps.
