    1. i found that the EGR valve is bad in my 94 ranger.i had the same problem with rough idle and "bucking at lower speeds" replacing the valve took care of the problem

I have a 94 Ranger with a 3 liter 6 cyl. It has the same rough idle and slow speed feeling. I replaced the spark plugs, spark plug wires, air filter, fuel filter, cap, rotor, and this made little difference. I am going to try the EGR valve as recommended or anything else.

94 ford ranger

If you could post more Information about the vehicle it would help. Is it a 4 cylinder or V6, and have you change plug wires or done any other repairs. Unplug the mass air flow sensor at idle and if the engine quits then the problem is not with that sensor, it is else where. It could have a bad timing chain and jumped time or if the timing belt on a 4 cylinder is worn out it could also jump time and cause a lot of damage. I don't know what else to tell you. I hope this was helpful.

Your torque converter lock-up solenoid is sticking in the "Locked-up" position.

When you accelerate past 1st gear (into 2nd), your transmission "locks-up" to the engine

I suggest to get the codes checked so you're not chasing a moving target. You'll need to look online - check out the Ranger/Explorer forums - or get the Factory Service Manual (FSM) to get the technical info you're requesting.
