Fan clutch is noisy on my 2003 Chev Blazer. how do i replace it?

The fan clutch is bolted to the water pump with four bolts, and the fan itself bolts to the clutch with four bolts. The easiest is to unbolt the fan clutch from the water pump since the fan may not clear the shroud. Once the four bolts are removed from the water pump the fan should drop down, and you should be able to wiggle it up and out. If not then remove the shroud which should have two bolts on each side. Remove the fan from the clutch, bolt the new clutch on, and do the reverse of removal. Depending on accessories you may have to remove the upper radiator hose but normally you can wiggle the unit out. Do not remove the pulley since this will only add extra work and frustration.

The fan on our 2005 Dodge pickup is wobbling and of course making noise. How difficult to replace maybe water pump or bearings. How do I know if it is water pump?

I'm assuming your radiator fan is bolted directly to the water pump. Grab one of the fins and rock it back and forth. If you see the water pump pulley move at all, that is your problem. You're going to need a fan clutch wrench set to remove the fan (or some people use an impact chisel to break it free, but I don't recommend that). Then it's just a few bolts, make sure to scrape all the old gasket clean before installing the new water pump.

Water Pump Leaking

the hardest part of this job is removing your fan clutch. you removed your top fan shroud, then your fan clutch, its reverse thread. take off your belt, upper radiator hose and 6 10mm bolts hold it in. clean water pump housing and put all back together. aftermarket water pumps do not come with theermostat, dealer pumps do. remove your belt tensioner from old water pump 3- 15mm bolt, two different sizes and install on your new pump. you need, 10mm socket, 15mm socket, flat head screw driver, pliers to removed hose, fan clutch tool(rent at autoparts store)

This IS EXACT Procedure Bu The BOOK
REMOVAL
  1. Drain cooling system.
  2. Loosen fan clutch attaching bolts.
  3. Remove fan shroud attaching bolts and remove shroud and fan.
  4. Remove drive belt.
  5. Disconnect lower radiator hose, heater hose and bypass hose from water pump.
  6. Remove fan, spacer, water pump pulley and fan shroud.
  7. Remove A/C compressor/power steering pump bracket and accessories to clear water pump stud bolt.
  8. Remove water pump attaching bolts and the water pump.
INSTALLATION
  1. Reverse procedure to install. Tighten water pump retaining bolts to 12-18 ft. lbs.
NOTE: All water pumps have a sealed bearing integral with the water pump shaft. The bearing requires no lubrication. A bleed hole in the pump housing allows water that may leak past the seal to be thrown out by the slinger. This is not a lubrication hole. If the pump is damaged and requires repair, replace it with a new pump or a rebuilt one.
