SOURCE: 2000 Buick Century gas gauge reads full all the time

You're either looking at a short in the wire that goes to the fuel sender, or a bad fuel sender. If it was just a broken wire, it would read empty instead. The fuel sender is a permanent part of the fuel pump, so that has to be replaced as a unit.

SOURCE: 2000 buick century custom. fuel gauge fluctuates

The sender unit has a fine resistance wire with a slider to read the level, the slider or wires are worn and making intermittent contact, the low fuel light is a seperate switch so it will still work.access to the sender is usually under the rear seat cushon, under the soundproofing and a cover, have a look and describe what you have .

Where is the fuel gauge fuse on a 1998 Buick Century?

There is not a single fuse for the fuel gauge , there are a few that power up the whole instrument cluster ! If there were a fuse out more then just your fuel gauge wouldn't work .You probably have a bad sending unit in the fuel tank or the stepper motor for that gauge is bad ! The thing to do would be to take to the dealer or some other capable ASE certified repair shop that has a up scale scan tool that can check codes in the instrument cluster ! Or you can take a chance an replace the instrument cluster !
Fuel Gage Inaccurate or Inoperative
Inspect for any stored instrument cluster Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs). Are any DTCs stored in memory?

Go to Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) List/Type

  2. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.
  3. Establish communication with the instrument cluster.
  4. Select special functions under the main menu.
  5. Select output control under special functions.
  6. Select fuel gauge sweep test under output control main menu.
Does the fuel gauge perform a full sweep when commanded?

2001 Buick Century, fuel gauge shows correct when I first start the car, and the "low fuel" light comes on at the correct time, but otherwise, always shows full. Can't be the sending unit, since it is...

Only four tings it can be. The sending unit, the gauge, wiring or the PCM. So you are saying that you keep your car full all the time? Replace the sending unit. 99% of the time it is the sending unit. .9% of it could be a gauge. .1% is the PCM.

What is the cost to replace fuel sending unit in a 2001 Buick Century?

Price would depend on where you live and where the part is purchased. The tank would need to be removed to replace the sending unit and the pump is usually included.
Cost of parts could be over $400 plus labor.

Gas gauge quit working. Is there a fuse or sensor?

It sounds like your Fuel Level Sending Unit, usually located with the Fuel Pump inside the gas tank, has gone out. The Fuel Level Sending Unit sends the signal to your ECU, and then it goes to the Fuel Level gauge. Replace the Fuel Level Sending Unit and your gauge should be back to normal.

The sending unit in the fuel tank most likelt went bad. It is probably a coincidence that it happened at the same time as the oil change.
