hello i have a 2006 implala with 87,000 miles. i have had problems with beherings, tierod ends, and some strange clunking noise, but that is the least of my problems. just the other day i drove home car was running great. parked it came out the next day to go to work and it wont start. I have power to everything we just cant get it to crank over. we tried to jump it change the starter and nothing..We dont have a lot of money to spend to fix it not to mention we still our paying on it for the next four years of our life... i am not sure if this is conected to any of the problems, but a few weeks back my doors would not unlock with the key fob, but know they are working just fine

I had the same problem. Was told it was a battery, which I replaced and everything was fine for 14 months. Now the exact same thing.

The exact same problem. Try to start car and nothing happens. Everything electrical has power but the car won't turn over. Not sure if it si related but the drivers side heater doesn't work either, just blows cold air.

Wife stuck three times. Will not crank. Power to other things.

When I get there, it starts.

Not sure if it is ignition switch, shift safety switch, or the security system, will not let you start unless turn signal is on.

    Any ideas??

It's a known passlock problem. However, when you take it to the dealership they act like nothing is wrong because the car turns over when you are there. Then everytime you start it, you have this fear that it may not turn over. Never a Chevy again. It's a shame, 'cause I love that new Camaro. Chevy just doesn't take resposibilities for their problems.

I have the same problem with my 2000 impala 3.8, it sometimes won't start but everything has power. the engine wont turn over at all, I want to point out that the steering wheel wouldn't lock at all. is this a security issue, electrical, ignition? I had the exact same problem with my 98 chevy lumina car. its not the battery and i feel sure its not the starter. I really believe this is a common problem in chevrolet vehicles since it happened in both chevys i have owned. Somebody who has solved this problem give a real answer not a list of things to check please.

"has power" means? What voltage do you read?

Try bridging the two heavy wires on the solenoid. Turns over?

Temporarily connect battery to small wire on solenoid. Turns over?

Try jumping from another car. Did that work?

When I turn The Key To the start position, the car dose nothing. No clicking no turn over.

Did you try and jump it? Check your battery connections and cables. If all try and start it in neutrial. after that you may need to check for power a the starter and have somebody else try to start it while you check for power there.

I have telstar tx5 ghia 1990 2,2l 4 cilind automatic, power everithing, car is done 240000.yus wont start one mornig doing klik didn t start and couple time kliking alnaser (starter) and i have used cable ...

Easiest test is to reconnect jumper cables and switch lights on, if these work and no noise AT ALL from starter, NO clicking at all then could be the jumper cables are too light like most are. Try 2 sets of jumper cables. Ensure that the cables are correclty applied, Red to Red and the black is the last connection to a good steel part on your engine, NOT the battery.Always ensure the car being used to jump from is running at all times while cables are connected. When it starts remove this one FIRST also.
