Believe it or not..Coca cola..will take acid off the battery post...Just put a cloth or paper towel between post and clean one side at a time..use a old toothbrush to help..Then tighten the battery post...
Checking your grounds may help , you may also have a parasidic draw. Check glove compartment , and sunvisor lights may be staying on. Amperage draw check at power cable on battery.
Battery voltage is way low when you crank makes it sound like a machine gun. This can also be caused by a loose or corroded battery cable. Test the battery for a bad cell and look at the alternator to see if it is working correctly.

the cluster needs to be calibrated to the pcm before the speedo and tach will work. You will have to take it to the dealer to have it done. The last time I had to do it, it cost me 70 dollars.

your alternator most likely went bad and you were just driving on battery power with out the alternator recharging back the battery when your voltage drops to around 7.5 volts then the van will die please dont try to drive home with out fixing alternator.
