I put two new thermostat in and it was still over heating(i got the thermostats from advance auto)and i went and got one from the dealer that cost 25.00 and it worked. thats only been about a one year and now its still overheat again. I was thinking maybe it had a air pocket and maybe it needed to be bleed Well today I change the water pump and the car is still over heating when i turn the air con on after it has been running for about ten minutes...if I don’t turn the air on the car seems to be fine. when the air is on both fans on turn on

sometime when i step on the gas the air con, the air comes out hot maybe a compressor is the problem. its also making a noise... i hope not.

You can try first checking the radiator because there's a possibility that it has some leak or its clog , then it will really cause overheating, if you can bring your radiator to a radiator repair just to let them have it check that will help alot on your concern...

Hope that helps.........

You have to check the leakage for water and the radiator should be circulating the water properly, It happend the same with my Ford car last year and due to over heat the shape of the engine dome which covers the tapids were in alligned and the was a water leakage so wheneve we turn on the ac it use to over heat so what we had to do is replace the top engine cover which has a hole to pour engine oil then the thremostat and the head gasket needs to be replaced after that full peace of mind its been 2 years now and there is no issue.

Could be the thermostat again, check the thermostat by taking it out and put it into boiling water for a few minutes. If it opens, then it good, if not, bad. If the thermostat checks good, then the problem could bs the the clutch on the compressor is going out, and trying to lock up, in turn putting an extra load on the engine causing it to overheat. Take the belt off the compressor and check for any extra play in the pulley. The compressor pulley should spin freely when not engaged, if it doesn't or if you can hear any type of noise, ie...ratteling, rubbing, grinding, etc..., then the compressor is going or has been going out, and will need replaced.

Unless the thermostat has a bleed screw on it, it will be a self bleeder, so there shouldn't be an air pocket.

One other thing that just crossed my mind is that the heater core could be partially blocked, and not allowing the cooling system to flow properly. You can check this by letting the engine warm up to a normal operating temp, after the thermostat opens, then feel the two hoses that go to the heater core through the firewall. Both hoses should be the same temp, if one is noticeably cooler than the other then the heater core has a partial blockage. A partially blocked heater core can cause the engine to overheat when the ac compressor puts the extra load on it.

Well, I would definitely take the belt off and check the compressor out. Also, check the heater core out. The brief moment of hot air could be that the heater core is extremely hot, and the hot air is escaping up through the flow gate just slightly.

Are you kidding. All he did was tell you to take it to a shop for the repair. There's no help in that solution at all. It's easy to tell if your radiator is leaking or not getting a good flow, you don't need to take it to a shop to figure that out. Why did you even waste your $9.99 to have this guy tell you to take it to a shop?

Check if you have no leak on the lining, and also check the blower fan resistor..

Based on little detail, i would say that you need to replace your thermostat if finding anti freeze or spill check for cracked or damaged holes. Car running fine just over heating thermostat for sure.

2000 lincoln ls heater not working...thermostat?

- If temp guage reads normal, the lack of heat may be due to the Heater Control Valve. Located in front of the radiator. Lower passenger side. A real bugger to replace.
- The plastic cap just over the thermostat is key in re-filling the anti freeze and bleeding air.
