Question about 2004 Mitsubishi Eclipse

1 Answer

I have a 1999 mitsubishi eclipse. The check engine light was initiated by "emission" problems. Is there a common solution or series of steps to weed out what parts I need to check?

I have a 1999 Eclipse and I have been having problems with the it since April of this year. The check engine light started coming on and the diagnositic showed the front sensor needed to be replaced, when...

Your message is incomplete, but anyway I will give you some advice and check it. If you mean that you had a problem with the Oxygen Sensor and on removing it you damaged the threads, surely you will have a check engine light on even you renewed the sensor because fitting the sensor in a broken threads you will have a leak and the sensor will not measure correctly the emission. what to do? go to an exhaust fitter and ask him to clean the hole and just weld a nut same thread of sensor and fit it correctly. If is that what you meant.

Hi there:Here's a little information on it and some things to check...

For more information see if you can get a copy of this Technical Service Bulletin from your local Mitsubishi dealer.

NO.: TSB-98-13-012
DATE: September, 1998
MODEL: 1996-97 Eclipse 2.0L Non-Turbo

SUBJECT:
Evaporative Emission Control Leak Detection System Diagnosis

PURPOSE:
This bulletin describes the operation of the evaporative emission control leak detection system and how to diagnose diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) relevant to this system (DTCs 183, 184, 187, 160, and 161).

I think the whine you hear while turning the steering wheel is a P/S system that's low on fluid or a P/S pump starting to go bad.

The rattle under the dash could be anything from loose change to a loose component.

Hope this helps; also keep in mind that your feedback is important and I`ll appreciate your time and consideration if you leave some testimonial comment about this answer.

Thank you for using FixYa, have a nice day.

Check engine light came on cars running fine.

If the check engine light comes on there is a problem some where in the emission control system, the vehicle may seem like its running ok but there is a problem within the system which will affect the emissions

I just bought a 1999 eclipse rs...its does not run...my buddy who owned it before me ran it hard. Are there common problems with the 420a engine that would cause the engine to stop working? Are there...

I would do a cylinder compression test, that will tell the story, if bad compression in any cylinder's, head will have to come off to repaired, more then likely engine ran hot. If your going to fix it, also replace timing belt and water pump while in there.

Service engine light came on my son's 2003 mitsubishi eclipse spyder today. what does that mean?

the light comes on for emissions reasons.. if the light is flashing then it needs to be taken to a repair staiton right away to avoid emission component damage.. if the light is just on it could be as simple as a loose fuel cap.. the only way to be sure it to have the diagnostic codes read with a tool..

Pi4oo MSP trouble code mitsu eclipse 1995

The error is actually P1400 Manufacture Controlled Auxillary Emissions Controls. I'm having that issue with my 2001 Mitsubishi Eclipse right now. Not to mention the bad paint job.
