    Hey there star_heart11,

My name is Mike. We sometimes use previous solutions as a knowledge base. That is how I found your post.

I was curious about your 'Inappropriate' rating of Fixincars response. I don't know him, but as an expert here, I can trell you that numerous problems show up daily without proper detail and the tag lines are often miscategorized by the asker.

A request for clarification shows a conscientious effort to get it right. He asked a legitimate question. It was Appropriate.

Did you notice he was the only one to respond? He's sort of new. You
just taught him a valuable lesson about selecting who not to help.

You may not be aware of it, but we try very hard to keep out rank and ratings as high as possible. An Inappropriate rating is the worst you can get. Not rating someone would be preferable.

I checked his record. The only black mark on it came from you. If not for you he would have advanced in rank by now.

You asked for help. You did a poor job of it in not supplying enough detail.

Even so, this guy rises to the occasion, tried to help you
(FOR FREE) and you say 'NeverMind' , then slap him down with an IA. He deserved a 'Helpful' at the very least.

Don't get me wrong, it's great that you fixed it yourself. But if this is the way you dispense gratitude, you'd better get used to doing things yourself.

Bottom Line: The only Inappropriate response I see here is yours. Why don't you make an effort to fix it. You might get back some of those Karma points you flushed. Until then, You're on your own.

I own a 2001 dodge dakota 4x4, my brake lights wont work, I have park lights, turn signals, back up lights, even 4 way flashers, I replaced the brake unit on the brake pedal, and checked all fuses, they...

Hi,

When you say you checked the fuse, was this just a visual check....or did you try replacing the fuse the a new one? Sometimes a visual check doesn't show minute breaks in the fuse wire, which gives a false appearance that the fuse is fine.

When the fuse is ok, this problem normally relates to the brake switch (mounted to the brake pedal). When this switch is replaced, you should always use a multimeter and check the switch is operating correctly when touching the brake pedal.

If the switch is ok, then suspect a faulty relay (if applicable to the Dakota).

Cheers,

No brake lights on rear of truck. Turn signals work and brake light on top with cargo light works but not on rear of truck

Brake light on top works tells me the switch at the pedal is ok. Turn signals working tells me that the turn signal filaments have power.

I would try changing the bulbs and if that doesn't work have an electrical shop trace the wires and check for power on the brake light circuit in the back.

REAR BRAKE LIGHTS DO NOT COME ONLY TAP LIGHT IS

Check for power at the turn signal switch. White wire comes from brake switch switch into the turn signal switch. The brake light switch is working because the high mount brake light is working..right? Do the turn signals work ok? if so, then the wiring is OK. The brake signal wires that come out of the turn signal switch are dark green(right) and yellow (left).

Check the brake light switch under the dash attached to the brake peadal arm. It is wher the break booster push rod attaches. Sometimes that switch works loose.

Rear brake lights wont work on our 2005 chevy aveo ????

It sounds like you should check for power at brake pedal switch. Hook up a test light to the switch and press the brake pedal. If the light does not go on and you have power in the wires to the switch then the switch should be replaced.
I hope this helps you out
