You dont its that simple ,if handbrake high and brake pedal low then the back drums need taking off and adjust the rear brakes manually by turning the little knurled wheel ,skim the outside of the drum with a small angle grinder to remove the lip and leave a bit of a bevel then adjust the the shoes till they catch when spinning the drum ,the cowboy way is to screw the adjuster up thats at the back of the handbrake behind the ashtray but if you do this vehicle will fail the yearly test for low handbrake readings and excessive pedal travel on the footbrake ,especially if it comes in front of me for its test

1998 ford festiva hand brake adjusters

If handbrake is not working correctly then you will need to remove the rear brake drums ,clean the lip on the edge of the drum so they can be slid on easier and after adjusting the automatic adjusters inside the shoes ,its a knurled knob ?look at teeth to see which way to turn to adjust out with a small screwdriver until drum just slides over shoes after rubbing the lip down of course ,then tap around drum lightly with a small hammer to level shoes then adjust up a bit more.now your handbrake will be perfect without touching the cable .But word of warning after getting the drum off make sure the handbrake operating arm is right back because if its not the handbrake will still not work as the actuating arm is over centre so it will not pull right .if the arm is forewards then slacken off the cable ,adjuster is under the handbrake lever inside the vehicle

How to adjust rear brake and handbrake on Hyundia i10

look in your centre console between the seats and remove the bottom of it this would usually just pull out then there should be the end of your handbrake cables with a 10mm adjustable nut that you can get a spanner on ,obviously make sure your car can not roll and release your handbrake wind the nut in a couple of turns then try your handbrake ,keep doing this until it reaches your desired height
Hope this helps Nick

Remove the boot around the hand brake or pull it back to expose the adjustment nut and locking nut on the threaded cable end, turn it clockwise to tighten the handbrake cables.

Cant find handbrake adjuster for peugeot 207

Just fixed mine, the handbrake adjuster is attached to the handbrake lever inside the consul, remove the blanking plastic section to the left of the handbrake, near the driver seat, the with a torch see in side to base of handbrake lever, you will see a vertical rod with a 10mm nut (black) adjustment is done here, quater turn at a time. my problem was the rear 2 cables had falled out of the Tee bar at the back, remove the plastic blanking plate in the rear cup holder see 13mm nut, undo this allows the consol to lift slightly, re insert cables etc, i the tied the 2 cables together with cable tie to stop them popping of the tee bar, so far so good

I am to replace rear stub axle on a seat ibiza? do i have to strip out the inside of the drum before removing the old stub axle?

The simple answer is YES. You will need to remove brake drum / hub and inner and outer wheel bearings. This allows access to the retaining bolts.
Although a little tricky___You should now be able to install a new stub axle, without removing the brake shoes or Handbrake cable
