Hello. Have just fitted new fuel pump filter etc (the full unit) to 06 freelander td4.
Have tried to start it with no success. Is there a point to bleed the fuel system?
Tried priming the sediment unit and also the pump, still no success.
Please assist. Willie.

ok,
all fuses good. glow plugs test okay.
all filters good. fuel and air
fuel pumps all primed.
try test fuel? using a spray bottle with diesel in it ,past air cleaner point. if that works (runs)for say 3 seconds, the injectors are not injecting fuel.
did you install new filter in the right direction??? filters have a "flow arrow" pointing to which way it goes arrow points to the engine...
also did a lot of junk come out of old filter or the fuel line if so dirt is now blocking fuel rails... dirt will now pass through injectors ...
From 53 reg onwards, diesel pump is under R.H. rear wheel arch, hidden by the plastic wheel arch liner. Older versions have combined fuel pump/sender in the tank (under R.H part of rear seat). You should be able to hear a faint purr from the pump when ignition is turned on but engine not yet running.
yeah, don't drive so fast!!!!...seriously i would do what has to be done anyway to start. change fuel filter, air filter, spark plugs, spark plug wires. these have to be done at some point if they haven't been.. if that solves your problem, if not look at fuel pump, injectors.u didn't say if it used to go faster, maybe there is a limiter.
There are 2 fuel pumps , the primary pump is in the left rear corner of the engine bay (sitting in the drivers seat)there is a fuel filter in this bracket also. The injector pump is situated on the front of the engine block
