my truck did that while i was driving on freeway then would backfire i had changed spark plugs and wires and when i did that it made my ignition coil stop working but i just cleaned it off when i dies while driving just throw it in neutral and restart it so you dont have to come to a stop
Dieing while driving but restarting right away, no starts from a dead stop. To me this sounds like the anti theft security system shutting you down. These have been known to turn off injectors while driving and starters while stopped. Check and see if a light is illuminated that says SECURITY when it fails to start. Leave the key forward and look for it. If you see that light, then it is 100% the security system. Sensors going bad can easily cause this. If was a computer or heating issue it wouldn't start right back up. If crankshaft sensor is going bad the second it doesn't signal computer the car dies.
with a problem like this you must surly have a check engine light on ?
To answer your question yes an EGR valve could cause this problem on a hemi ! But would act up more cold .
And No the key thing wont work on this year of vehicle , you need to have a scanner for OBD 3 to retrieve the codes .
This sounds like a fuel problem to me have you checked fuel pressure ? and for a tuneup , remember the hemi takes 16 spark plugs it could have some of them miss firing .
sounds like air might be trapped in the fuel lines try turning the key on for a few seconds to let the pump prime the system and shut it off do it a few times
Your 94 should be a 350 engine,is it? That would be a timing chain, which means the distributor cap was removed to locate cylinder 1, Your high rpm in neutral, and low rpm in gear sounds like a vacume leak,The turn signal problem I'm not sure because you didn't say if the battery is going dead or if it starts right back up.
i am on here because of an issue i am currently having with a 2004 tahoe, but after reading some the other problems people are having i will let you in on a previous experience i had with a 2002 chevy truck. my previous vehicle was a 02 chevy 2500hd with the 8.1 and the problem started on day when suddenly it shut off. it did restart with no problem. i never had that problem again until a month later and 1500 miles away when i went to texas to visit my sister. this time it took nearly 30 mins before it would restart. it would crank over fine but no fire. then suddenly out of no where it would fire up like nothing ever happened. so anyways to make a long story short i visited two different gm service centers, they did tune ups and diagnostics, and handed me the bills for over 500 dollars and told me that should do it. yea right the problem continued and then i searched online and one item that kept coming up was the crank position sensor. after reading what those people were dealing with i gave it a shot. went to the dealer bought a new sensor ($99) took an hour to install it and i never had the problem again. one last thing im gonna add. i had a friend that drove a late 90s or early 2000s grad prix, she was having the same problem and had her car in and out of the shop and never got it resolved, i told her to have them check the crank position sensor and bingo, she never had the problem again.
