Renault megane, 2004 model 1.6 16v Hi, the car was running fine parked for about 4 hours and when i came back to start it, it was acting as if there was no fuel, so imediately thought since the fuel gauge was saying empty that i put in my the whole emergency 5 ltr in the tank. however giving it time to pump petrol through the car refused to start, even with a push start and all tow start, eventually it started using a tow pull start.it ran all the way to the petrol station but when left to idle after 5 minutes it died, and would not start. yet another tow start started it almost instantly., rode it for a while and yay it started and stopped a few times , but now after being parked over night it has failed to start. good news is that cleaning the sensor on the right hand side of the engine if facing it somehow fixed the fuel gauge, cleaning the other sensors fixed the them too. however car still wont start, i have been readin g online in regards to cleaning the Crankshaft Position Sensor, but have failed to find it, do you know if this would work and also where about it is located ? Thanks Rob

Go to a Renault dealers and they will be able to help you. Main dealers have machines that can read the codes. They will charge you so you might want to ring them up and ask for a price first.

SOURCE: location of crank sensor on renault megane 1.6, 2004

bit confused...the cranksensor will be on the gearbox housing the camsensor will be near the cams not the gearbox if the camsensor has packed up it wont start but if it packs up while driving the engine will run untill you stop it then it wont start,a cranksensor could cause the engine to stop at anytime if it fails..your problem could be the idle air control valve or a timing related issue..

SOURCE: instrument panel will not come on

Welcome to the club! Have a look at the "blank dashboard" posts. Hundreds of cars out there with same fault, Renault will charge £500-£700, some firms do "mail order" repairs for £200 - and please email Watchdog, Renault need to start sorting this out! Lots of us are doing the same. Try ECUtesting.com or Cluster Repairs UK and have a look at renaultcustomer.com/ or threads on howtomendit.com.

My Renault Megane Scenic S reg heater is not working

Most likely to be a faulty resistor block, which has 3 resistors and a thermal fuse controlling fan speeds 1,2 and 3, maximum speed 4 by-passes the resister block. It may also be poor electrical connections to the resistor block caused by overheating. Renault ask for approximately £350 to carry out repairs, a replacement resistor block will cost £50. If you decide to carry out the repairs yourself, be advised that if you are not competent to carry out such work you, could cause electrical damage or worse an electrical fire.
