Question about 1996 BMW 318
The fuel gauge is actually fed information from the intank pump. you have two as the tank straddles over the rear dif etc. the one you need to remove is located behind the passenger seat under the rear bench. about 6 screws hold a circular plate down, and below is the pump etc. be careful as there will be a bit of fuel in the line.....but in all, about 25 mins to change. Usually the cause is a snapped wire.
