Question about 2009 Toyota RAV4

1 Answer

I have a 2009 toyota rav4, and the check engine light came on. i plug the computer in and it indicated camshaft. after driving a while and turned the car off the check engine light never came back on again. I have a feeling it was the camshaft sensor, since the light has gone off on it own, should i still change the sensor?

I would not replace unless code comes back and stays. Sometimes a minor blip causes light to come on.

NO I WOULD NOT. IT WAS JUST A COINCIDENCE THAT THE LIGHT CAME ON. SOMETHING MUST HAVE JUST TRIGGERED THE LIGHT TO COME ON. IF THE LIGHT DOES COME BACK ONLY THEN WOULD YOU CHANGE THE SENSOR UNTIL THEN JUST KEEP DRIVING THE VEHICLE.

Why will engine not start

You have a spark at the plugs, which indicates the ignition system is working.

The engine is cranking over?

If not - or it seems slow to crank - check the earth lead on the battery.

The only other thing that springs to mind is either the crankshaft or camshaft sensor.

My auto limited slip differential light and check engine lights are blinking red on my 2012 Toyota rav4. What does that mean? And how do I make them turn off?

The check engine light tells you that the computer has detected a problem. Take your rav4 to your local parts store, most will read the codes for free. The codes pretty much tell you what's wrong.

I have toyota rav4 engine 3S-FE 1998cc On cranking car the engine turns but does not start looks like no spark at plugs

  1. Check fuel level in fuel tank, add fuel if empty.
  2. Check battery condition and state of charge. If voltage and load test below specification, charge or replace battery.
  3. Check battery terminal and cable condition and tightness. Clean terminals and replace damaged, worn or corroded cables.
  4. Check fuel delivery system. If fuel is not reaching the fuel injectors, check for a loose electrical connector or defective fuse, relay or fuel pump and replace as necessary.
  5. Engine may have excessive wear or mechanical damage such as low cylinder cranking pressure, a broken camshaft drive system, insufficient valve clearance or bent valves.
  6. Check for fuel contamination such as water in the fuel. During winter months, the water may freeze and cause a fuel restriction. Adding a fuel additive may help, however the fuel system may require draining and purging with fresh fuel.
  7. Check for ignition system failure. Check for loose or shorted wires or damaged ignition system components. Check the spark plugs for excessive wear or incorrect electrode gap. If the problem is worse in wet weather, check for shorts between the spark plugs and the ignition coils.
  8. Check the engine management system for a failed sensor or control module.

2006 RAV4 V6 multiple cylinder misfire, VSC, check engine and sli

You need a scanner to pull out the engine light codes.
Use a shopu manual to aid you with the diagnosis and repair.
The slip indicator and vsc light being on means these systems are not working. Once you pull the codes and do the repair and erase the codes the lights will go off.
There will be a code in there for the misfiring.
Good luck and keep me posted.

2008 rav4, the check light, VSC and 4wd lights all on

when the check engine light comes on,the computer system has picked up a problem. the other lights come on because their systems turn off when the computer finds a fault. once the computer problem is repaired, the other lights should go out.

If the camshaft belt breaks, can the engine blow? 1997 toyota rav4.

Most engines now are what is called an interference engine this means that the if the timing belt breaks the camshaft may leave one of the valves open causing it to be bent as the crankshaft continues to turn as it comes to a stop, piston comes up and hits the open valve.
