Question about Dodge Neon

1 Answer

While driving, a chirping noise develops. This wasn't the case a few weeks ago and it is only getting worse. It used to only do it at low speeds (less then 30 mph) but now it does it at all speeds. The sound seems to be coming from the Drivers side front so not sure what it is since I can't look at it while driving.

It sounds as if your brake pads have worn down to the squeekers which
make an irritating sound to indicate service is needed, if you wear past them
sometimes the brake metal will grind the rotor making this sound. Please
have this checked out immediately as it will be less expensive if the rotors
can be turned instead of replaced.

check for bulges in the side walls of the tyres and check for belt separation. Disconnect the front axles into free wheel mode and if the noise is not there it will be tyre related as there is no movement in the diff or drive axles

Hello I have a Ford Focus 02 ghia 1.6 when driving it makes a loud ticking noise that has got worse in the last few days. I checked the oil a month ago when it started and it was V.Low I topped it up but...

The ticking noise, if related to your engine would get faster and slower "with" your engines' RPM. If it isn't matching the engine then I would be wary of a possible wheel bearing getting ready to take you for the U-Turn of your life! Try pulling (very hard) on the top of the tire closest to that area to see if you can feel looseness or "play" ...cuz there shouldn't be any "play" or noises at all.

1999 Grand am gt chirping noise

Certain brands (cheapo) of serpentine belt will do this. It is because the new belt is thinner than the old belt. This causes reduced spring tension by the belt tensioning device. Other possible problems are a bad belt tensioner, driving through deep water and getting the belt wet while driving or a defective crankshaft harmonic balancer assembly.
I HATE Dayco brand belts, because they do this a lot. I would have the shop inspect the parts mentioned above. If they are OK, tell them you want a new belt (for free).

Speedometer and air conditioning problems - Ford Focus Saloon

The VSS (vehicle speed sensor) sends the signal that activates the speedometer. Interestingly enough the signal is also sent to the radio to adjust the volume for road noise. That would explain your perception that it is worse when listening to the radio. Now, solving your problem may not be as easy as following the link between these two devices, but I would check the vehicle speed sensor first.
