F-250 powersrtoke 6.0 pulling trailer engine fan goes on lose power. going up grade engine fan will also go on. losing rad. fluid but no leaks are dettected

I would say it is possible an overheated engine which is not coolling the transmission can trigger a lot of lights. Many transmissons are heated and coolled by a line which goes to the radiator of the engine cooling system.

Well first off 2002 chevy blazer with 4.3 liter is losing water but no leaks. Then when it gets around 210 temp it begins to whine real loud and takes longer to shift from first to second. Engine light...


the check light means to SCAN it. (all cars, 1987 to now)
All posts are USA,

the water, coolant does lose coolant in 6 months of driving
but does not fast. so i presume you mean fast loss. like 1 day.

there are on 3 ways, (but inside leaks or outside are the 2)
so if no green AF on the ground nor on passengers toes (foot well)
then its internal.
way 3 is out exhaust tip. (seen as steam on a hot engine and said steam , smells sweat (glycol stench)
way 3 is just one more external leak , as steam>.....

that leaves, milky engine oil or the A/T (AUTO? TRANNY) the dip stick shows milky. (not pink/red. and clear but muddY)
the engine is first.
transmission is useless to any blown engine.
some newer cars the trans, has overtemp sensor that can force it to limphome, mode. 210 is not hot. some cars run 200f thermostats.

first off stop using the side expansion tank for diagnoses.
some lie. (eg. dip tube in tank bad,)
use the RAD cap test method., look into the RAD cap filler well.
is it REALLY full , dead cold ?
if not , bingo. huh? (my guess is you did this already) methods?
fiddle the side tank later, find out if you have air in the system.
first.

the tests for lost water are (no signs stated above)
are,
1: RAD leak down tester
2: RAD green /blue die tester

a new rad cap is cheap, me i just inspect the gasket, like this guy.

some cars have 2 failures. a partial clogged rad.
then one more failure, breaks the camels back (heat load)

One other way to lose coolant is that it only loses it driving
and you missed that?
are you checking the ground at each trip, end? and after coming back.?

i bet the 17 ways to leak finds its.
but the system holds about 12psi hot. if not , fix that first.
we just grab the top hose on rad,and go to self, yah got full pressure.
and temp.
if it does hold pressure, and there is a breach idling hot.
its easy to see, it will leak now at 12psi , so look/
if its not leaking externally then its inside the engine or out the exhaust tips.
LOOK NOW>
and if it overheats idling, all cars do of the fan is dead.
if it overheats, the fan must be active. if not fix that now.
the FSM book covers most the tests.

napa sells this ( finds cracked heads. or gaskets in head) or worse.

98 siliverado 5.7, loosing fluid, cant find the leak


hey you people need to give some info .there is oil fluid anti freeze fluid power steering fluid windshield washer fluid .if your losing antifreeze it will show up on your dip stick as the level of oil rises . or its blowing out the over flow at the over flow jug which could be many things plugged rad fins cracked block or head .just not enough info to diagnose this . seen pin holes in hoses that spray only while driving or reving engine.

i would start by just simply checking all of the transmission fluid lines, mainly the cooling line and and return line from the rad

If you are losing fluid and there is no sign of leaks then it can only be going to one of two places. Into the radiator, due to a faulty transmission cooler, or more likely into the transfer case due to a faulty input seal in the transfer case. To confirm if it is going into the radiator just remove the rad cap and look for ATF floating on the coolant. But ONLY DO THIS WHEN THE ENGINE IS COLD!!! You don't want to be sprayed with hot engine coolant. But the safer alternative would be to remove the transfer case fill-plug. If an excessive amount of ATF runs out then the input seal in the transfer case needs replacing.

2006 3500 4x4 is over heating on hot days while pulling trailers and having to stop and go through traffic transmission and engine temps along with the a/c blowing hot air as soon as I start to move I...


The first thing to check is whether the truck has a trailer towing package on it. If it doesn't you should upgrade your cooling systems. That would include a larger rad and a separate one to cool the transmission.
In the mean time take a garden hose and clean out your current radiator by flushing the coils pout from the engine compartment side. It could be plugged with dust and flies, bugs etc. Make sure the fan shroud is intact as well. Use a piece of window screen to keep the rad from filling up with bugs again. Also check the rad carefully for bent or crushed fins. They will seriously hamper the rad's ability to cool. Straighten them with a pair of needle nosed pliers so air can pass over them. I would also get the rad itself flushed and change the coolant. Coolant loses its effectiveness over time.
Even if you have a trailer package on the truck re-route any lines that use it for cooling to separate rads, for example the transmission. You can get them aftermarket and they ae easy to install. Anything that reduces the load on the main rad. Hope this helps.

Many things can cause this. It could be a slipping fan belt. This would cause the water pump to not pump enough water. Check the condition of the belt & replace if necessary. Also the water pump may be failing. The engine coolant may be low &/or leaking inside or outside the engine. Take the rad cap off when the engine is cool & check the level & start the engine & see if you cansee flowing liquid through the rad . No flow, bad water pump. Or the thermostat needs to be replaced, it may be stuck open or closed in your case. The thermostat is at the end of the upper rad hose & is removed by unbolting the thermostat housing after draining the fluid from the rad so it is low enough not to lose any. You may have a head gasket leak, ckeck to see if you notice any white residue on your oil dip stick & give the tail pipe the finger test &se if you can smell burnt antifreeze smell. Hope this helps. You are boiling the brake fluid and hence the sinking pedal, go to silicone based synthetic fluid, it will not boil, all the old fluid must be flushed from the system before installing this fluid, this should cure your problem for good.

Overheating


If you are losing fluid and you do not see it on the floor it is going either of two places. In the oil or out the tailpipe. The fluctuations you see and the fan going on and off is the result of low fluid levels. Sometimes the sensors are touching the fluid and sometimes it is not. It sounds like the head gasket is bad. Check the oil filler cap and dipstick for white milky creamy stuff. If you see it the water is going into the oil and is destroying the lubricating properties of the oil and will destroy the motor if not taken care of. Change the oil very often until it is fixed. If there is no milky stuff it is likely leaking to the exhaust which is not as bad but still needs to be fixed. If you pressure test the radiator system it will likely loose pressure slowly if the gasket is bad.
