Question about 1984 Dodge D150

Have a 1984 dodge pickup.When first starting it moves really slow.Once it's warmed up it shifts just fine.Any solutions?

Check transmission fluid level,and color, may just be low,if brown,or black you can try changing fluid,and filter(,if it isn't to far gone) if the fluid is red,or pink, check level,and add if needed.

My 1996 dodge 2500 pickup with a 5.9 gas engine auto trans will not shift.it seems like its stuck in a high gear as well because its very slow to accelerate...but fine when i get speed up.it wont move...


put some trans additive like lucas that removes varnish off solenoids--amsoil is anothr brand--ajust the throttlvalve cable on the intake--------may need to rplace governor pressure solenoid and torque converter sol--trans cud be worn out-hav a concerned mechanic take a test drive

When the car is started and then shifted into drive you can feel it engage. It will move forward and even seems to shift properly until the transmission warms up. Once it warms up and you stop it will not...


This sounds like a valve body spool is hhanging up. It's that block you see bolted to the belly inside the trans. Check the vacuum modulator vacuum hose for vacuum or leakage.

I have a 94 gmc pickup v-6 with 4l60e tranny and it won't stay in overdrive once it warms up but shifts and drives well otherwise. If I leave it in drive it seems fine. Any suggestions?


HI!!! sounds like you have trany link conector problem. even if the pointer works well on P'R'ND2'1. when you move the link connetor moves on the bottom because its braket is loos

dodge uses e solenoids to shift the trans.I am not sure on an 88 but this sounds like why it acts up when drained.
repair your charging system and should be fine
