I found the broken wires where my trunk closes on them. first i took ALL the bulbs out to see if there was something wrong there, next i put another fuse in, if it blew i knew it wasnt because of the bulbs. look for where the wires get kinked or closed on the lid repeatedly.

If the fuse KEEPS blowing it is because someone keeps replacing the fuse without diagnosing and repairing the reason the fuse is blowing.

Please review this article: Where's The Fuse?

Anyway, you have a dead short to ground in your brake lamp circuit that needs to be fixed before your wiring harnesses light up and smoke your entire vehicle.

This sounds like a bad bulb socket or a shorted wire. Pull bulbs and look for rust, water or dirt in socket. Replace if needed. Trace wires up from rear and check for bad spots. They should be together on side. Hope this helps.

SOURCE: I have a 2000 elantra when pressing the brake it

You have a wire to the brake lights grounded either from something like an Amp being tied into it or a trailer connector that was put in having a short. If the vehicle has any damage to the rear end or sides check the wires for a grounded positive. You can do this by using a Multimeter. Open the trunk and access the wiring harness on either side and put one Multimeter wire on a wire and one against a ground on the body or frame. If you have continuity then that wire is shorted out and you will need to trace it to the short and repair it.

2004 Ford Ranger 10 amp fuse keeps blowing no brake lights, abs, turn signals?

Fuses blow because there is an overload on the system. If the fuse blows when you step on the brakes then there may be a short in the wiring from the brake light switch to the lights, abs module or turn signal switch. If the fuse blows when you turn the key on then there is likely a short in the wiring to the brake light switch. Basically you will need a wiring schematic to check the wires at the switch and at each of the loads. Also verify that the fuse is supposed to be a 10 amp fuse. Hope this helps

Brack lights wont light up on my 1988 ford ranger we keep blowing fuse and put in new brake switch

If you keep blowing the brake fuse than you have a short in the system. Unplug the brake switch. Install a new fuse. If it did not blow than the problem is after the brake switch. Next unplug the turn signal switch, then plug the stop light switch back in and press the brake pedal. Did the fuse blow. If not than the wiring is good in between the two switches. With the turn signal switch disconnected use a jumper wire in between the light green wire (power from the brake switch) and the orange with light blue wire (power to the right brake lamp). If the fuse blows than there is a short in the right side brake circuit between the plug in and the rear socket assembly. If the fuse does not blow than jump from the light green wire to the Light green with orange wire (power to the left brake lamp). If the fuse blows than the problem is in the left hand brake wiring circuit.
