2004 chrysler pacifica 120000 miles, have had to change the battery cable ends (they weren't corroded but the mechanic says there was an issue it wouldn't start). Now the transmission is stuck in second gear. Mechanic changed the transmission sensor control ? part was $180 problem persists, now he wants to change the computer... any known problem and solution? Thanks!

They also put the car on a computer at a transmission repair shop. Changed a relay and a fuse. At one point when the stick was in Drive the panel indicated it was in park and the car would not move. I put it in N and back in D a couple of times and it finally engaged into 2nd. the autostick - and + does nothing.

I will check out the DRB II at the dealer. I have read that advice a couple of other places tonight. Let you know how it turns out.

Welcome to Fixya

The pcm prolly has picked up a problem with the transaxle, pcm puts the transaxle in "limp mode" which will keep it n 2nd or 3rd depending on the programing try checking the codes to see if it has speed sensor or solonoid failure codes.Chrysler dealer will have this device called a DRB II. Their reader also has to be equipped with a program (cartridge) that accesses the transmission computer.

Thank you for using Fixya!

When do one change the timming belt on a 2004 Chrysler Pacifica

The timing belt manufacturers usually recommend 60k; but the vehicle mfr may 80k. So its safe to say around 60-80k miles.

I have a 2004 Chrysler pacifica that would not start. We've had the battery tested and changed the starter. We've checked that there is power getting to the starter as well as the solenoid. We've also...

I have a 2007 chrysler Pacifica and it had the same problem. It would crank over but not start. Took some time to figure out but in the end the asd control wire that runs from the fuse box to the PCM was corroded in half about 5 inches from the fuse box. It would show 9 volts at the PCM but no continuity.

2004 chrysler pacifica water in floor board

the ventilation system of this vehicle has a drain. This may have been plugged from debris that lays in the cowl. I would suggest on your next oil change to have the mechanic clean the drain hose underneath the car.

The performance service light came on our 2004 Chrysler Pacifica..we got an oil change like 3 wks ago...not sure what this means..

Most likely it means that the mechanic didn't bother to reset the service interval after changing the oil.

You can do this yourself by hitting the Step button until you see 0 miles until Service displayed, then hold the reset button until it changes to 3000 miles.

Car will sometimes only make a clicking sound, battery is good, can it be the starter solenoid not engaging the starter? Or is it a relay in the starter itself?

try connect a wire directly to solenoid, then touch the other end to the batt. positive, if the engines kick your starter is good if not, your carbon brushes inside the starter motor jam or need replacement.

I own a 2004 chrysler pacifica. when i accelerate i hear a noise like you just went over a small bump or hill in the front drivers side. could you tell me what that is and how much it is to fix. thank...

you need to get the motor mounts changed as i had the same problem before....two of them had broke so anytime my car accelerated or slowed down the transmission going through its gears would cause the motor to jump....i would recommend taking it to a mechanic
