Rickyrock354, I believe that you are looking for the purple wire that comes to the switch. The easiest way to tell this is to get a test light and with the ignition in the on position find a good ground for the light and probe the wiring plug. If you have no power coming to the door switch then check the fuses. If fuses are good then you will have to open the wiring rubber boot between the door and the body of the vehicle. Because of the constant opening and closing of the door the wires will usually break in this spot. Good luck with this.

Specifically I'm trying to identify the wire on the spark plug coil assembly to which I should connect the signal wire of a Tachometer to. The wire colours are, red, yellow, green/white, and blue.

It says the tachometer wire is Yellow/Green, you do not have that listed. You will find it in the list below, it is highlighted..

Why is only the driver side window is working on my 1996 maxima

electric window dead.
fails to go up and down?
  1. blown fuse in the , fuse box.
  2. bad switch
  3. bad wires from fuse , switch and motor
  4. bad motor.
  5. window track jammed, and overloads said motor.

in a shop we dont guess. we use a $10 volt meter,
and measure the voltage to the motor pins, ACTIVE.
I got 12v yes, good
i dont get 12v, the controls are not sending 12v to motor, trace that with the meter. (easy is pie)
got 12v.
it dont move but buzzes, tack is jammed or motor bad.
if motor is silent and dont even twitch with 12v, (active) its bad.
if the motor seems overloaded, then disconnect the motor drive.
and see if the window does move easy, if not, bingo its jammed.
ill stop here, and not go in to the long topic of how to rebuild tracks.

2006 gmc envoy drivers door has no power to it , no dome light when you open door all other doors are ok

{: ) Try checking the DDM fuse 10 amps at the rear fuseblock. If you'll be able to access the connectors under the driver door switch, check for 12v power by probing on all the orange wires. Check also the black wires for good ground connections. If the windows can be operated on the driver's door switches, then the door lock actuator coud be faulty. But if most or all of the buttons on the driver door switches doesn't seem to function at all, despite 12v power and ground on the respective terminals, then it can be a malfunctioning driver door switch. A new driver door switch will also require programming.
If ever this is the case and you need to be sure, you can try swapping the driver door switch from another vehicle you know of with a similar configuration as your vehicle.

Get a 12V test light or a volt meter. Check to make sure you are getting power from the load side of the driver's door switch when you are pressing the switch. Also check the wire at the window when pressing the driver's door switch. This will verify power going to the switch and power leaving the switch, in addition to ruling out a bad driver's door switch. The power for the window uses 2 different wires, one for use at the individual door and another for use at the driver's door. You will narrow down the bad location in the driver's door wire doing this. If you have power leaving the driver's door switch, but no power getting to the rear window, then the wire is bad somewhere along the line. Trace back the wire and check for power at different locations along the entire length of the wire to pinpoint the break/corrosion problem.

Power Windows

I assume the fuses have been verified to be OK. As long as they are, it seems that either the window regulators in those doors have failed, or there is a break in the wiring between the doors. The most likely problem after fuses though is that the driver's door switches themselves have failed. Power is routed through the driver's door before being distributed to the other doors. If the driver's door switch module has died, then the other switches for those windows won't work either. A replacement driver's switch pod is easy to swap and runs around $10 at a salvage yard - I'd try that after verifying that the fusing is all OK.

Power windows dont work

Power for the windows comes from the battery, through the fusebox, to the driver's door switches, before being routed over to the passenger side. If you can't control the windows from either side, first check the fuses, and if they're OK, I'd strongly suspect a problem with the driver's door switch module. You can usually pull them out of a salvage yard for around $10 or so - doing a swap would be a simple job and you will either nail the problem there or eliminate it if new switches don't fix the problem. If that doesn't do it, you may have a wiring issue (broken wire, disconnected harness, etc). Chances are it's a fuse or the switches though.

Inspection:a44e8bd.gif Connect the motor terminals directly to battery voltage (12V) and check that the motor operates smoothly. Next, reverse the polarity and check that the motor operates smoothly in the reverse direction. If the operation is abnormal, replace the motor.
