Question about 1999 Chevrolet S-10 Pickup

1 Answer

I have a 99 s 10, 4 cylinder 2.2 liter automatic. Im at times having a problem starting it. when its cold outside it fires right away< but after it warms up or if its hot out it wants to crank for 5 to 8 seconds before it starts very weakly. Ive changed the battery, checked fuel pressure, alternator, fuel pump relay, battery terminals...... Im just out of ideas. any info would really help. thanks

Check for leaking O-rings at the injectors, they will allow the engine or some cylinders to flood causing hard starting. After it sits, check for tailpipe smoke, stumbling until you 'clear' it with more petal, or unusually dark or high oil levels. O-rings are a common problem on older cars as they dry out and crack due to years of heat and high pressures.

it doesnt stumble when it starts, it starts weak for about 2 seconds and then its fine. i also just had the top end rebuilt due to blown head gasket. i believe the o rings were checked. any other ideas?

do a compression test to be sure it is not an issue (should all be even) but I would still think the 'weak start' is a fuel issue-check fuel pressure regulator, and just do the O-rings, they are not hard to do nor are they expensive and the person who did the head probably did not replace them. While the head was off, was it cleaned up? A compression test will rule out this problem.

What is the firing order of a 1995 Honda Passport 3.2 liter engine and with standard transmission

Standard or Automatic doesn't matter.

Firing order is 1-2-3-4-5-6
Cylinders 1=3=&5 or on the passenger side
Cylinders 2-4 & 6 are on drivers side
Your 3 coils should be marked 1&4, 6&3, 2 & 5

Engine firing order

First generation (ZJ) (1993-1998) what engine?
you dont know what engine is under the hood>?
well there are 3+ engines. or more , if exported out of USA. more.
for the inline engines, all are #1 front (RWD cars)
if you look close,. one cylinder is more forward that the other in front
that farther forward is called #1 on all V engines. (ASE class day 1 rule)
now the firing orders of most.
1,3,4,2 I4.
153624 v , I6 <<<<<< my guess. INLINE SIX Four Liters?
5.9l started in 1998 , USA Export models produced at the plant in Graz, Austria, were given the vehicle designation of "ZG". (have diffr. engines)

3.7L 6 cylinder
1-6-5-4-3-2

4.7L 8 Cylinder
1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2

5.7L 8 Cylinder
1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2

even the 5.9L fits. some jeeps had the engine changed.
so not looking and seeing what you have its a wild card.
mine has 3.8L V6
1-2-3-4-5-6.
but fires in pairs, due to wasted spark coils ,(3 coils) tricky , no?

now I have answered for just about all engines. there.

Coil firing order

call autozone find out the firing order.the coil is numbered.the firing is counted from left to right.(for ex. if your firing order is 316524) three would be on the left so you run that sparkplug wire to the number three on the coil, and so on.
