My 5 speed bmw 323i makes grunting sounds just

This could be Low Fluids in trans, Or Fluid from the slave cylynder has air in it or low in the resavoir. It seems the clutch is not engaging due to lack of pressure from the slave cylynder not pushing the pressure plate hard enough and in return causing the tranny to make a grunting sound

Turn key to on position do not crank you should hear a grrr grunt sound that is your fuel pump but i think you will not hear the grunt because your fuel pump is most likely not functioning.

Hello get in turn key do not crank or start just until dash lights come on while haveing your head turned towards passenger seat. The sound you are listening for is a fuel pump"GRUNT"GRRRR sound last for a second if you do not hear this chances are your fuel pump is not working. You migt have to repeat those steps a couple of times to be sure you do not hear the fuel pump grunt.

I have had problems with truck starting

When it wont crank, tap on the starter with a hammer, wrench ect. if it starts then, most likely need the starter replaced. If it grunts, its getting power. Make sure the battery is good. to check, take a voltage reading should be 12.7 volts on a fully charged battery, take a reading when starting, should not go below 10volts.

Seems like grunt or grind in steering colume

What color is the power steering fluid?
If it is dark and/or grayish you may have a power steering pump which has ground itself to death.
While grinding itself....it has contaminated the complete system.
The cure in most Ford products with this PS pump is a complete power steering pump replacement and steering rack change with a good hose/line flushing before reconnecting.

do you have a fuel pump grunt when you turn on key with out cranking it? I have seen these do 2 things! spark dies fuel delivery quits safety caution so converter is not filling up with gas! and when fuel pump quits spark shuts off to avoid coil short out! do you hear your fuel pump grunt GGGGG" when you turn key all the way with out cranking!
