SOURCE: Trouble code P1740 on 1999 Dodge Ram 2500

I had the same code on my 2001 dodge 2500. The truck wouldn't shift from 3-4. I pulled the trans pan off and replaced a broken spring ($2.00). It is behind a thin plate with 3-4 small torq screws. You don't have to remove the valvebody. Only took me 45 minutes to fix.

I would like to give thanks to Jeff Russel from Teal automotive. He said this is a very common problem. He sells any part for any automatic Transmision and his prices are very affordable.

SOURCE: 1999 dodge ram 2500 5.9 cummins diesel

There can be 2 problems here. 1. look at the metal fitting coming off the top of the tank. mine rotted through causing me to lose prime replacement fuel pickups now have this part made of plastic. 2. Inspect all connections on fuel pump lines for air leakage. Again this will cause prime loss.

SOURCE: Where is the fuel filter located on a 2006 Dodge

It is located on the driver's side of the engine. You will see a yellow handle for the fuel/water separator drain valve at the bottom of the filter housing. The black plastic top unscrews and the filter can be pulled out.868820e.jpga75da07.jpg

if you are looking at the fan from the front of the truck put your wrench on and turn clockwise. works good if you have a long enough wrench and an air hammer to hit the wrench.
