1st disconnect the battery! Use a tensioner pulley release tool to get the serp. belt off, then remove the wiring harness to the alternator, then pull the top short bolt out, then remove the long pivot bolt at the bottom of the alt.

How do i change the alternator on a 2002 tahoe loosen the belt to remove the alternator?

Hello KMC. Before you begin, I recommend a trip to the autoparts store to purchase a gadget called a memory saver which you plug into the cigarette lighter. These items are about $15.00 and they save all of your radio codes and other codes so everything will still work when you finish your installation of a new, rebuilt alternator. I am recommending a rebuilt unit, which is significantly less money provided that you turn in your old one once you have removed it.

Follow these steps to accomplish this removal:

  1. Plug in your memory saver, if you have one.
  2. Remove the vehicle's negative battery cable.
  3. Remove the serpentine belt, or alternator belt. This is many times the most difficult part of the task.
  4. Remove any necessary parts to reach the alternator.
  5. Discard all belts or hoses removed in this process.
  6. Disconnect all of the electrical connections (wires) from the alternator.
  7. Disconnect and discard the alternator belt.
  8. Remove any mounting bolts that hold the alternator in place.
  9. Remove the alternator from the engine compartment.
            Joe

I have an intake leak where the 2 gas lines go into the intake, what would cause this and how do i repair it? the engine was recently removed and replaced if that helps and it is on a 1998 chev tahoe with...

you will have to remove upper intake plenum the black plastic part there is a o-ring around the area you are speaking of. now if this engine didn,t have the intake gaskets replaced before installing now would be good time because if you keep vehicle believe me you will have to do sooner or later these engines came with plastic intake gaskets that are notorious for leaking to do this you will njeed to remove both upper and lower intake manifolds I just started a job on 99 tahoe today before lunch and customer is driving tonight replaced upper and lower intake gaskets fel-pro makes updated gaskets for this engine that has thick metal shim and rubber gaskets a great improvement that ends this problem as for your vacuum leak at opening for fuel lines don,t see often but is possible hope this helps
