Does this occur only when driving, or while the vehicle is sitting still? Is it intermittent as say will work one day and not the next, or do they come on and off while driving?

Did you look at the plug on the back of the bulb. I'm having a similar problem on my 2000 Max and I noticed the the plastic plug that slides into the bulb is all cracked. I'm thinking this is related to the problem. I haven't yet figured that out exactly though.
