If your a/c doesn`t work the /ac compressor then the system is low on freon and needs to be checked and serviced.check the fuses as this could be the problem.there is also a diode in the wiring at the compressor clutch that attaches between the two wire terminals at the plug.

Fan clutch wires cut.. what colours go to what on an 2004 dodge 2500 5.9 cummins

26257369-zcdpbucemf3wpt03nxn2ad3r-1-0.jpg this should be what you are needing.
the fan clutch being connected back stock is critical to the air conditioning system as well.. if the fan clutch doesnt work properly, the ac compressor will self destruct. mine did 3 times before i discovered my clutch was bad. if you have to replace the clutch, spend the extra money and buy the clutch from the dealer. i originally bought one from a very reputable aftermarket parts dealer that i have never had an issue with parts purchased from them, and then later ended up buying one from the dealer. the ac compressor is ok to buy from any good retailer, but from what i have heard the fan clutches for the diesels(viscous clutch) as well as the ones for the gassers are best bought from the dealer..

Well i still have the same problem! after i took your advise i took 1998 grandprix to new machanic/ told him what the car was doing getting hot and only cools when( ac) is on he said it was thermostat

I would vote for the cooling fan theory. The engine thermostat is supposed to open up at 195 degrees and allow the coolant to flow thru the radiator. The cooling fans come on at 220 degrees and when the ac is on.
A mechanic would use a scanner to watch the engine temp and see if the thermostat is opening at 195 and the fans are coming on at 220.

Sounds like a jet engine some time the check engine light just came on 48hrs ago How do I fix it?

the jet noise and check engine light may be related, ive done a few of these with the jet noise. the problem is the clutch fan if frozen, this make the fan spin full speed when not needed to do so,this is the jet sound you hear, replace the fan clutch this will solve your problem,go to auto zone and have them reset the light . the part is about $200.00 and heres a picture of it.f3505f1.jpg

should have the coolant temp sensor replace from the sound of it. if bad it will think it is cold and dump more gas to keep it running. it also runs the fans
