Question about Dodge Ram 1500

1 Answer

I just replaced all the steel brake lines and the 3 flexible lones on my 98 dodge ram 1500 4 wd pickup. I am not able to get brake fluid out the bleeder valves . I might have routed the lines from the masterc cylinder to the proportioning valve and rear abs incorrectly . do you know of a routing diagram i can look at to check. the lines I got were pre bent stainless steel and are direct fit replacements but im stumped . they look like they only fit 1 one way, thanks john

1995 dodge ram 1500 2 wd, replaced front brake pads, pedal goes to the floor, no air in lines, found leak, apperas to be halfway back, above fuel tank... What's back there that is causing a leak? Only thin...

Hi There.
could be a weak spot in the brake line and has popped when you pushed the pistons back on the brake calipers, (had a similar problem on my toyota previa) only thing you can do is replace brake line and bleed brakes. make sure that there is no build up of road dirt on top of the tank, and check for stone damage incase something got thrown up from the road..
Good Luck.

How to replace front calipers on 04 dodge ram 1500

Support the vehicle on Jack Stand. Remove the Tire. Loosen the two retaining bolts on the back of the Caliper, 1 on each end, Disconnect the brake line. Install the new caliper and from there you have two options. 1. Let the Caliper hang free and open the bleed valve on the Caliper with the engine running, when you see fluid start to drip from the Bleed valve close the valve then complete the installation. (Make sure you remove the rubber cap from the bleed valve) 2. (This takes two people) Install the pads in the Caliper then install the Caliper. Make sure the brake fluid is topped off. Start the vehicle and pump the brakes 3 to 4 times then hold the brake pedal down. The person on the outside releases the Bleed valve, in this process the brake pedal will go to the floor, Once the Pedal is all the way down close the valve and repeat the process checking to make sure the Fluid is topped off after each attempt. Repeat the process until only fluid comes out when you open the bleed valve. This usually takes 2 to 3 cycles. Once the air is removed from the caliper and brake line top off the fluid one last time and install the tire.

Put wrong fluid in power steering of Dodge Ram 1500 pickup. How to flush and refill? 2004 Ram 1500 4.7liter engine V8 Quadcab 4X4.

They make a machine to do this, but it is too expensive to buy for just one use. The best thing to do it to take off the power steering lines where the connect to the steering rack. Then start the truck and it will pump out the fluid in the reservoir. Feel free to keep adding fresh fluid to it while its running just to ensure all is out. Then, to get the fluid out of the steering box, connect the lines back up, fill the reservoir, and with the vehicle running, crank the steering wheel back and forth from lock to lock. This will take the fluid from the rack and eventually bring it back to the reservoir. You must then again disconnect the lines and flush it out of the reservoir. You may want to repeat this several times, it may take a long time, but will be cheaper than replacing the steering rack, box, pump, and lines. Good luck, and have fun. :-P

Leaking brake fluid

Power boosters don't have fluid in them. This sounds more like your master cylinder is leaking out the back were it joins the booster. Replace the master cylinder, and while you have it off, remove all the excess fluid out of the booster that you can using only towels.

Just changed brake pads 2006 dodge ram now they smoke after driving. Will this stop.

Yes, You must have gotten lube on the rotors when you changed them. esp. wd 40 or brake fluid. does it stop evenly and and as quickly as before?

If so, were they metal or asbestos brakes? Asbestos might burn if the rotors were scored.
