Question about 2006 Hyundai Sonata
Do you hear the air conditioning compressor switch on (with the engine running) when you turn on the air conditioning from inside the car. Get a friend to turn on and off the air conditioning while you listen with the hood open engine running you should hear a clicking sound on and off each time the a/c is cycled on and off or the a/c clutch is not locking up the compressor. This may be due to many things (bad clutch, bad compressor, no power to controls or compressor clutch) but it could be a sign of low charge the system has a low pressure switch which prevents the system from being energized if the system has low refrigerant charge.
The easiest way to tell if the compressor turns on is to simply watch the compressor clutch to see if it's turning. You'll need a flashlight to do this. If you start the engine with the a/c off, you'll see the outside portion of the pulley spinning, but the center portion will remain still. If you turn the a/c on (and it is operating properly) the center portion should spin (along with the outer portion) whenever the a/c compressor is commanded on.
Get the ac pressure test done, to confirm, that there is no refrigerant/freon leak from ac compressor and its not low.If its low, then ac will not give cool air , due to lack of freon.-----------The other problem can be AC clutch.--------
This troubleshooting will help, to resolve the problem and locating faulty part causing the problem.Thanks.Helpmech.
