Hi, P1451 indicates the vent valve, but you say there is a hole in your EGR valve? And you replaced it but it got another hole? Where exactly is the hole on the valve?

Have never seen hole in valve. is it where arrow is below? Was the engine backfiring? Is the engine running OK, or does it lack power? Guess it doesn't run well with hole in valve, eh--but what about before the hole appeared?

I think the vent valve is on the vapor cannister. Do you know where the cannister is? Usually a rectangular box by the fuel tank.

    Trouble Code: P1451

EVAP System Canister Vent Solenoid Circuit Malfunction

    Possible Causes:

CV solenoid circuit is open, shorted to ground or system power

CV solenoid is damaged or has failed

    PCM has failed

My ford escape stalled on me while driving i had just install a new alternator 1 month ago because it did the same thing

Check your coils on the spark plug, also check your EGR valve and Idle air control valve. Mine did the same thing and I had to replace the IAC, and EGR valve and replace to coils on the spark plugs

P401 emission code ford escape 2001 6cyl

P0401 shows an Exhaust Gas Recirculation Flow Insufficient. Without a good scan-tool you will be playing the "Parts Changing Game". Insufficient flow can be the result of a vacuum leak, bad MAP sensor, an exhaust leak, faulty EBP sensor, carbon build-up, and so on. I wish I could say more but with all the electronics it is more complicated then earlier cars.

Error code P0402 2001 Ford Escape

This might sound crazy but it works with these Escapes most of the time. Go buy a can of Seafoam from your part store. With the engine off, disconnect the brake booster vacuum line and place it in the can of sea foam. Start your engine and keep your foot on the gas pedal and keep the RPM's around 2k.The vehicle is going to smoke like crazy for 10 minutes or so, when the smoke clears up for the most part, go drive it for a couple of miles and see if that helps. It cleans out the carbon buildup from you intake and sensors and takes care of that code you getting most of the time. OR, you purge canister needs to be replaced...

2001 Ford Escape error code P0402

Ok here is the solution when I had the exact same problem with my 2001 Ford Escape:
Replace:

Idler air control valve
EGR vaccum sylenoid
EGR valve

I did all of this work myself (and as a girl it was not hard at all), it cost me around $170.00 for all of the parts, had it done in less than 2 hrs., erased the codes and have not had a problem since then! I hope this helps you out, cuz it sure would have helped me out when I encountered the same problem.
