Air conditioner isnt putting out cold air. i changed the air filter and would like to know where to add freon?

SOURCE: Air conditioner on 2002 Pontiac blowing hot air, although freon is not low...also makes a clicking noise.

Take it to a garage and have them evacuate the system and refill with refrigerant. you have air and non condensibles in the refrigerant system.

SOURCE: Think the a/c has a leak. Put botttles of freon

deifinitely leaking...most likely spot is the condenser and accumulator..could also be at the compressor.

SOURCE: Can't find the port to add freon to the air

This job requries special tools and training. The quantitiy and pressures need to be measured.

Have a shop do this job.It is dangerous for your safety.

If the large ac line(low side) is cold going into the firewall,then the temp door is not working,check it out.

SOURCE: Air conditioner smell

Every single grand am I have owned does this!! They seem to have a gas smell when running the ac, or if it is extremely hot outside..It was the coil pack on 2 of mine. The extra load of the ac..the other was it makes the car run hotter. I just rigged my radiator fan to run constantly and the smell went away.

i assume you emptied the system first?are you using air conditioner in a can?or proper freon ?those cans are designed get used up really fast so you have to buy more of them.but yeah add another can.i use propane in my system it works great and is alot cheaper but illegal so im not recommending it but it will solve your problem.

Air conditioner not cold
Do you hear a clicking sound with a/c on, coming from under the hood, if so that's a sign that the a/c system is low on freon, some time when freon is to low the a/c compr won't come on at all, the system has a low pressure switch that won't let the compr come, so the compr won't get damage due to low on freon, have it service (recharge) and have them put some dye in there also, that way they will be able to check for leaks, freon don't wast, there has to be a leak some where's, that's the reason for the dye, if it's a very small leak, they might not be able to find it then, but when it happens again, with a UV light they will be able to look for the stain from the dye, and that's where the leak is at.

change out orifice tube and accumulator.put the system under vacum then add freon.

try hosing down the condenser with water from a hose, makes the freon condense more. On the other hand, are u sure it needs more freon and there isnt another problem?

Air conditioner gets hot on passenger side while drivers side is
either your R134a is leaked out ore you need add and also add a dye see if leaks.
Add to the low side the car while running with gage with ac cranked on high follow metter dont over fill it loc the ac up. Easy 20 minute job wallmart sells the gage and R134s and so do auto zones

i need to know how is not cooling the car?
is the fan blowing air or is the blowing air not cold?
it probably isnt cold.lets try that.
put a set of 134a ac gauges on the system and verify pressures.if it has low freon you may hear the compressor turning on and off.if so for sure its low and you will just need to add freon.
go get a 134a fron fill kit not the conversion kit.
and begin to fill untill the comp stays on and air is blowing cold.then stop filling and enjoy.
do not over fill as this will cause it to not cool again.
