2003 Toyota 4runner: Half our dash does not light up. This is the portion that usually displays the temp setting in the car and usually lights up when the car starts - not just when the actual headlights are on.

My right side of this center dash window light that displays the temp.reading also went out on my 2003 4Runner. The letters & number were readable, but the back light was out to see everything at night. My mechanic said the bulb was out and he had to pull the section off surrounding the whole center dash portion that encompasses the radio, mileage, a/c & radio section. I left it up to them to do, since they said it would take an hour. Now the whole section lights w/o any problems.

Half of my multi-information display won't light up and the center set of a/c buttons won't light up either. How would I go about fixing this? Thanks!

Those are LED lights that can be replaced, but do NOT go to the dealer! They'll try to get you to replace the entire cluster.

There's a way you can take care of this, if youre handy.

Here's a link on how to access the lights:

http://www.toyota120.com/html/center_console_lights.html

To replace a bulb, you'll have to cut n re-solder an LED that you can pick up at Radio Shack.

Toyota 4runner 84-87 dash lights come on battery water tap oil temp AT all lights are red my daughter says she took to local mechanic he said lights didnt come on when he had it lights only on...

You may want to get the alternator checked. I have a couple of these vehicles and when a alternator is going out or theres another voltage problems you will get some strange happenings with the dash lights etc.. They will also drop out the high beam side of the headlights in low voltage situations. Loose brushes in the alternators will cause this, as I have found in a couple of aftermarket units.

I have a 1987 toyota 4runner and no running lights or dash lights . The tail light fuse is ok but still no dash lights or running tail lights break lights light up fine.

THE DASH LIGHTS ARE USUALLY CONTROLLED BY A SMALL THUMB WHEEL NEAR THE HEADLIGHT SWITCH ON THE DASH. THAT IS A RHEOSTAT, THAT MAKES THE DASH LIGHTS BRIGHT & DIM. REPLACE OR BYPASS IT.

2005 Toyota 4Runner AC temp. control lights are not working.

I am going to guess that the peanut bulb in the knob is burned out.

I had a similar problem with my 2003 4Runner and changed the bulb and it worked fine.

The dealer told me it would take about 8 hours to change the 3 dollar bulb. I looked in my manual and it took me between 5 and 10 minutes tops.

I don't remember what the bulb number is. I do know that I had to get it from a Toyota dealer and not a regular auto parts store.

Hope this helps.
