Question about Chevrolet Camaro

I changed the standard single drive rearend gears to a 410 posi on my 92 Camaro RS and the speedometer is now swinging up and down not working properley. I've been told to replace the sensor. Is this the problem and if so where is the sensor on a 700R trans?

Sensor most likely. It's located on the tailshaft of the 700. You might check for wiring damage starting at the sensor and working towards the wiring bundle it goes to.

The rear tires chip when turning. it acts like a posi rearend but its not. if I jack up one side and put it in drive only the tire in the air turns but if I turn it around driving it it locks and is hard...

if it is posi, its bad, if it does not have posi its bad, you may need to take the cover off. the tag on the cover should have a "L" if its a locking diff. A repair shop that does a lot of rearend work, will need to check it.

This amount of play would not be excessive. I don't think you can remove sll the play in a GM rearend. Do you have a posi-track rearend? That could be acting up and creating your problem.

Need new rear end for a 1996 Chevy Camaro (interchange options?)

camaro firebird and transam axles are what i would go for. remember lots of people change out the ratio just look for one with posi it will bolt right up if the ratio is wrong it will only affect speedo and fuel economy a little bit. this can also be changed easily with your ring and pinion out of the old one if need be.
