Question about 1999 Volkswagen Jetta

2003 jetta 2003

Hi guy's/gal's. My problem is this. I just bought a 2003 Jetta 2003 TDI. This is my first car other than a GM product in my 35 years of driving. I comute 160 miles a day and thought it was time for a change. I got a good deal on the Jetta but it has one problem. The air conditioner blows only air and the main fan on the radiator will not turn on. The auxilary fan turns on after the car heats up, but the main never turns on and the air condenser never seems to turn on to get the air cold. Any help would be appreciated. I am not going to drive the car untill I can get this fixed....Thanks

Need factory test parameters for 2003 jetta tdi oil pressure sender

Most guys just replace the sender, as tools to measure the old one would cost more than the replacement sender.

Oil pressure sender ohms - resistance for 2003 tdi jetta

Most guys do not actually test the sender, as it is somewhat hard to do, as you must know the pressure to evaluate what reading you get.

IF you suspect you have incorrect oil pressure, test the pressure by using an external pressure gauge. If pressure is okay, just change the sender.

If the pressure is NOT okay, shed tears and commence surgery to find cause.

2003 Jetta TDI vibrates above 35 speed

With 180k I would change the engine mounts. They are about the only thing that would dampen engine vibration and noise (assuming that the engine is running ok). There is likely one or all weak or broken. Normally when you have a vibration at speed then it is going to be driveline or wheel balance.

Sorry the solution already posted didn't really have any answer. This is a pretty open forum, and anyone can put an answer up.....

Back to your problem.

I have a 2000 Jetta TDI, I get anywhere from 47-50 mpg.

Many things could cause your symptoms so solving here isn't really possible. But there are ways to work with this and other VW's.

You can buy a software that will let you work with the onboard computers (all of them, not just the engine). Cost is about $350. You do need a laptop (or desktop PC if you want to just use it in the garage.) This product is nearly the equivalent of the device VW uses in its dealerships.

There is great tech support for this product, and a users group on Yahoo. If you post the diagnostic information and ask for help, you will
get answers.

It sounds like either your repair shop doesn't know about this software, or they haven't asked the right questions.

The product is called VCDS, and you can find information about it at:
