Have you checked the exhaust for a restriction, it may be a clogged catylictic convertor. Any muffler shop can assist you in checking for a restricted exhaust, they most likely will not charge for it.

at 1 or the width of the needle under 1
on the clock face you will see the sign X 1000 and that means that all the figures are to the 1000 so 1 is 1000 rpms, 3 is 3000 rpms and so on

My mazda 6 starts with no problem, however if you sit still and let it idle it chokes and tries to lunge forward anytime I am not applying at 25 mph of acceleration the engine feels and sounds like it is...

your car has an electronic gas pedal instead of a throttle cable,.it needs to be replaced more than likely as the pedal is sending the wrong reading to the computer.this is a common problem on that car and it will usually set off a check engine light and a code for the accelerator position sensor.

Blinking oil light on 2003 Mazda Protege. Changed oil and oil filter as well as oil sensor. Light still blinks when the car is idled up.

You need to reset your change oil warning light. To do this, turn the ignition key to on but do not turn over the engine. Then rapidly push down the gas pedal three times. This will reset the system and turn off the blinking light. Then when you drive another 3000 miles, that light will once again tell you it is time to have your oil changed. J.

1988 5 speed Honda Accord

Ensure your spark plugs, wires (ignition coil and spark) and your filters (air and fuel) are within 2 years of installation It's erratic at 800 rpm as the engine is cold and they like the 2200 range for 3 minutes before they kick down on their own. Press the pedal twice before inserting your key. The owners manual states depending on the outside temperature, the engine will require more priming. Update if possible.

1997 Mazda Protege: Engine has clicking noise when idling.

Check to see if the valve lifters are not making the noise. Turn on the engine and rev it up to about 1500 rpms and see if the clicking is coming from the valve cover area.
