The flashing light is indicating some kind of trans problem, have the system tested with a scan tool and get the stored fault codes, then post them back here and we will try and help you to get it fixed.

Is it ok for truck running on the highway when overdrive light is flashing

Overdrive flashing probably means that overdrive has been disabled due to a detected problem such as overheating. i would get it checked out.

My 01 Ford Escape over drive light started flashing and then the transmission started slipping what's the problem with it

the overdrive light flashing is just like a check engine light. you should take your car to a reliable tranny shop and have them scan for codes. The slipping could be the start of a serious problem.

1999 jeep grand cherokee overdrive does not work

OD , id OD'd? LOL !!!!
huh?

please do explain, dont work.
it never engages
or hunts.
or lamp flashes (some early cars , flash it for failure)

The PCM on most 99 cars controls the engine and tranny all in one box. and can do many things, wrong, to cause OD to fail
even Limphome, mode. (btw tranny has its own limp mode too)
why not scan the PCM and pull out the DTCs for tranny
P07xx or?
that be first.

the PCM will in fact skip OD (top gear) if it thinks it will overload
the engine or tranny is malfing. (slipping and other checks)
the newer the car , the more of that protection is going on....
saving car from driver actions.

1998 Chrysler Sebring JXI V6 2.5L Transmission automatic ...the tranny does not slip and seems to shift fine (BUT) it seems like it is louder like it is not going into overdrive on highway. When i go 60mph...

Here is your clue the ABS light and a erratic Tach, that is the speed sensor problem just to let you know they are known problems with the Sebring There is a (TSB) technical service bulletin, about speed sensor delay engagement that you are facing with
A/T-41TA/AE 42 LE Delay Gear Engagement Your fix is to have this check out you may be looking at a flash on the software of the TCM or even the PRNDL switch on the transmission

Have a 2001 ford explorer and the overdrive light been flashing, and feel the tranny slip alittle when driving.. some people say its the valve body gasket .can you help?

When the OD light flashes in this truck it means a malfunction has occurred in the transmission, it usually will be due to excessive slippage of the transmission based on the signal of the input and output shaft speed sensors. Here is what you need to do is have the Transmission Control Module tested for the fault code or codes that was stored when the light starting flashing, it is doubtful the valve body is the problem based on my 30 years as a Ford dealer technician.

Auto transmission slips then grabs

first thing i would try is changing the transmission fluid out and filter, i beleive its almost 8 quarts. use a full quart of lucas transmission additive with the new fluid. if this doesn't help, the transmission will either need replaced or rebuilt

Overdrive light is flashing and tranny is slipping in drive and 2nd

my overdrive light is flashing due to a shattered speedo cable tip. check your fluid level. you may have to change the tranny filer and redo all the fluid.
