1999 Audi A4 2.8 V6 engine. Starter - removing and installing Caution! Disconnect the battery Ground strap before working on the electrical system. Notes: 1. Before disconnecting the battery, determine the correct coding for the anti-theft radio. 2. Once the battery is reconnected, check and activate the vehicle's electrical equipment (radio, clock, comfort and convenience features, etc) as described in the Owners Manual.
I know you can that you can change this by simply hooking up a scan tool for specific year. There are language options accessible for situations like this. Here is a sample of what can be changed using VAG 5052 or equivalent scanners.

disconnecting the power will cause the airbag warning light came on as a warning that you may have a faulty unit, can be reset if you have the machine to do it(your local dealer will have one)The radio will require you to put in the code to restart it....
Open the drivers door with the key. Look on the door for the unlock button and press it. This will unlock all doors and the boot. Use the handle on the boot to open it.
sorry to say, you will need to take it in, it needs to be hooked up to their computer to reset and have it start up poperly. It just like a pc when it crash it will try to start in safe mode until you select "Normal" start up
Unfortunately, if I am reading this problem properly, you have a Blaupunkt radio in your Audi. Disconnection from power source and reconnection without proper (un)locking code will result in the permanent disabling of said radio.
It's a common problem in factory Blaupunkt radios installed in Volvo's, BMW's Audi's, etc. A very effective anti-theft mechanism indeed!
Yes. I know of two units out there: Denison's IceLink, and the Phatnoise box (or Phatbox, as some call it). I believe both install the same way. You figure out where you want the iPod connector (say, glovebox). Pull the stereo out of the dash, disconnect the CD changer (you'll lose the changer function with these but who cares?), and plug the adapter cable into the changer's port. It'll allow the iPod to play through the factory stereo, and will allow you to control the iPod with the buttons on the factory stereo.
