Question about Honda Accord

3 Answers

I have a 1989 Honda Accord sedan with electric windows. The driver's side front window came off and fell inside the door. I've had the inside trim panel, handle, window controls off but I can't see how to further access the window to reinstall it.

Addendum to the Honda Accord window problem. How do I remove the window regulator to reinstall the window?

  • dbreuer965 Aug 07, 2008

The solution was helpful. I located the control box which was held to the inner door by scews. The part the window should be mounted to was up all the way and since I had the connectors off I couldn't lower it to see how to mount the window. I know I'm an amateur so I'm thinking of taking apart the passenger side to see how it's mounted.

The regulator will either be bolted or riveted to the inner door. You will need to locate the bolts and remove them in order to get the slide that holds the window up and out. If riveted you will need to drill the rivets out, and replace the entire regulator with an after market bolt on type, so only drill the rivets if absolutely necessary, otherwise you're out about a hundred dollars. This is a difficult job, the space that you'll be working in is very tight, and doesn't make it easy to get to the regulator.

That is a great idea, to take the other door apart, you already know how to get that far, and this will save you the expense of a manual. Good for you.

You will have to remove the window regulator, that is the part that raises the window and lowers it.

I have a 2007 Honda Accord and the drivers side window stopped working although I can still hear the mechanic for the window when you try to roll it down (electric). I believe the arm fell off and I may...

Its a very easy fix, you will have no problem doing it yourself. The window most likely simply came out of its track and therefore cannot be engaged properly. Uness there was some damage to the vehichle, I doubt that anything is actually broken.

The fix does involve removing some interior trim pieces and then adjusting the glass back on track. I have included a detailed set of diagrams and instructions which explain exactly how to fix it.

It is a 45-60 minute job tops assuming you are new to this type of maintenance.blackjakjunk_6.jpgblackjakjunk_5.jpgblackjakjunk_4.jpgblackjakjunk_3.jpgblackjakjunk_2.jpgblackjakjunk_1.jpgblackjakjunk_0.jpgblackjakjunk.jpg

Driver-side window fell off track. How to remove door panels and get window back on track?

1) remove the little plastic panel the covers the access to the outside mirror 2) remove the inside door opening handle 3) remove the window switches panel 4) disconnect all electrical contacts for #2 and #3, pull the upholstery panel, it has no screws, just self locking plugs, and careful with the door light, it has a very short cable. 5) remove the clear plastic protective sheet, very carefully, in order not to damage it, since it is attached with a reusable rubbery material. 6) determine what went wrong with the window glass guide.

1989 buick park avenue Cannot get power window

These are a pain to do so you will need to remove the small trim peice behind the inside door handle to get to a small screw holding the door trim on. Next retaining clips hold on the sides and bottom door trim. Some screws may be on the bottom too on some models. using an old tablr fork helps out by removing the center fork prongs which will be used as a pry bar to pry up on these clips. Once removed you can gain access to the switch. Some models will let you pry out the switch panel instead of removing the whole door trim. If the switch is mounted in a panel that is separate from the door trim it will come out that way separately

Electric window only goes down half way

On the inside trim, you can remove screws that are by the door handle, arm rest, under door and side of door and then gently pull back on the panel as there will also be retaining clips attached and you don't want to break them. You'll need to lift the door panel upwards in order to get it off the window ledge. Pull back the weather seal. It sounds like the guide rails may be loose and snagging the window. Or your regulator may be broken (not likely)
