Question about Cadillac Escalade

2 Answers

I have a 2004 escalade. When you put gas in it it clicks off like its full after pumping only 25 cents of gas. The fuel gauge seems to be working correctly as it will be almost on empty and hold $60.00 +. We just had it in the shop and they replaced a fuel pump but it still has the same problem. What would be the problem be?

Sometimes its just pumping too fast for your vehicle. When the fuel touches the end of the gas hose, it turns off the pump. Try pumping slower or pulling the hose out of the gas hole on your truck a little bit. Not all the way out, just a little so its not buried in there so deep. In my car, i have to hold the hose hard to the left so it pumps without turning off. Try that out. And i notice in my car that it is only at certain gas stations. Maybe see if you notice a pattern of where you are at when it happens. If this started after the fuel pump change, maybe the shop that you took it too kinked the gas hose so it cant get down as fast. Just a thought.

It happens to me all the time I have a 2008 Chevy Silverado. Its the gas pump not your vehicle. When I run into one of those pumps I have to hold the handle on the pump and let it go slow. Not to worry your vehicle is ok its the back pressure from the pump handle.

I hope this helps you out if it does please give me a YES that I did assist you. Thank you

Every few cents the gas pump clicks, no fuel gauge

Could be the fuel tank breather is blocked.
Lots of fuel tanks are wide and slim these days and formed to fit the body profile so they have one or more humps that are higher than the filler pipe entry. It would be quite impossible to fill such a fuel tank if the top of the hump(s) weren't vented.

Because the fuel tank these days must be a closed container except when filling, such vent pipes would be connected to a branch of the filler pipe above the maximum fuel level to ensure the tank can be filled and to minimise blowback during filling.

When fueling the pump keeps clicking off as if the tank is full

The fuel cap won't make a difference as the fuel cap is off when filling with fuel.
This is quite common with a number of vehicles, yet not necessarily anything to do with any fault of the vehicle, as it may simply be the sensitivity of the fuel pump nozzle. If the vehicle is otherwise operating normally, then I would suggest that there is no issue with it.
I would instead try angling the fuel pump nozzle or withdrawing it slightly, but not all the way out when filling with fuel.

Why is gas gauge not working correctly since fuelpump was replaced.

Is this a flex fuel vehicle. If so, call the dealership and ask the parts dept. if there is a gauge module (perhaps behind the instrument cluster). This may be the culprit and needs to be replaced.

I ran my 2004 cadillac escalade out of gas after putting 4 gallons of gas in it it will start and when it does it is very very shaky and it will not idle what do I do

There is air in the fuel system. Look for the fuel filter, if its in a container, unscrew it then fill the container the filter sits in about 2/3 full. reinstall the filter and screw it back on. You basically need to prime the full system, and it should be fine. or just hold the revs midway, and let the fuel pump purge itself of air.

The fuel guage on my 2004 Chrysler Pacifica jumps around

This is a simple service fix. It's a glitch in the computer system. Take it to the dealer and there is some sort of code they can enter to "update" the car's computer.
Mine does it occasionaly, it annoying, but not harmful.
I've heard of some that will act up for a while, then stop, while others, have acted up and them the fuel gauge stays on empty.
Talk to the dealer.

My gas gauge marks full more matter how much gas is in tank. Then suddenly jumps to empty and continues same issue over and over again.

your fuel pump may be going bad. but first check if the cap is tight enough. you have a compressed fuel tank. if the cap is loose the gauge will not work or even your check engine light will come on sometimes. turn it til it clicks and click it 3 times. if that works then fine. if not it might be your fuel pump

2004 Pontic Aztek gas gauge

probably you got a problem with your fuel gauge sender that goes inside in the fuel tank, that sender is only a coil that works together with a fuel lever,if you want to save some money buy it separate from the fuel pump.

My 1999 Oldsmobile Alero Gas gauge and fuel system

well # 1 the full gauge when empty is a sign that your fuel pump is bad and that needs to be replaced the part about spitting the gas back out is probrobly a clog between the fuel door and the tank itself or their might be a vapor lock door that might be stuck shut so fuel cant get in im not 100%sure about that but im 100%sure that the fuel guage is the fuel pump being dead.
