Question about 1989 Dodge D150
If its a v8 its similar to the chevys. need to drop and steering linkage that is in the way of removing the oil pan. drain oil and drop pan. you will see a screen which is attached to the oil pump. the easiest way to remove this is a good flat head screwdriver and a rubber mallet or dead blow hammer. there is a lip on the screen that you can set the screw driver on. be very careful not to damage the screen unless you plan on replacing it. take note on where the screen is angled. this is important. you can measure with a steel rule or tape measure and measure from the screen to block or crank. remember measurement. its a tight fit so it may take some persuasion to get it out. once out remove th bolts holding the pump on. take your new pump and remove the cover plate that will expose the gears. hand pack the gears with a good assembly grease. then just reverse the steps. do not forget to angle the screen to the measurement you had.
